last i checked we havent lost a game! how can you honestly think that they are trying their hardest againt these way less talented teams? most of these teams only have a couple of NBA caliber players, and most of them are only good enough to be back ups. any of these teams would be dominated if they were in the NBA. they would be very lucky if they were good enough to make the playoffs
you know the funny thing about all this? these arent even our very best players! mcgrady,kobe,iverson,shaq,duncan,stoudemire,arenas ,j.oneal,billups, just to name a few. there is no team in the world that is even close. the only reason we MIGHT ever lose is because its not AS important to us as it is to the rest of the world. not even close. and sorry to say, but as this team meshes more as a team, it will get even more embarassing. the rest of the world has improved, but still a c level team at best.

You are free to compete, to play, and to support your team (and your team could be another country´s team). This is not a cuestion about superiority. If this is not important for the USA ONT COME TO PLAY. The tournament will take place without USA.

don't know the level, but improvement is continuous. Basket culture is growin..international player in the nba are increasing (take notice that some int'l player in the nba aren't in this WC for the same reason Bryant and Duncan and O'Neal aren't there..they aren't able to play with and for the team)..
however, the distance will always be smaller..as african people get wiser, they'll feel that ther's bucks to be earned in this b-ball thing, and they'll improve. (and remember that part of the reason why USA is so dominating is the athletichs superiority of black players).. sooner or later Stern will really open the borders and get Europe in the nba.. and that will be the last step. The reason why USA is so better than anything else is the Association. When it opens, teams like Brazil, France Africans teams, that have access to "the black power", or teams like Jugoslavian, and Baltic teams, that have a historical "school" for the game, will be able to really catch up.
And, honestly, that'll be oh so wonderful!
even with those players there, still not on our level. oh, by the way...i wouldnt advise holding my breath while waiting for that last statement to happen!

nah, its wouldnt be legit without the USA. winning it wouldnt mean as much if you didnt beat the best to get there. thats cool that they overcame war and all that, lots of respect for that.
stern would be stupid to do that....could you imagine the road trips? not possible IMO. most of the great black players in america arent from africa! from time to time we get a great center from there (ie. mutombo,hakeem,bol?)
but the majority of the great players in the league are american. the world have supplied SOME superstar talent (ie. dirk,manu,parker,gasol.nash,yao) but the overall talent in america will always be superior.
Oh, be sure. Stern will do that, and with good reasons. Because european people is gonna be tired of soccer in a short time, and Europe is an _Enormous_ market to enter.
The road trips.. the CBA already had something like that (the team from Anchorage who did the long trip with all the road games and then got back home and did all the home games..) .. however, airplanes are fast.. goin' from LA to NY is not so shorter than goin' from NY to.. say.. treviso, Italy.. ( :) )..
However, only time will tell who's right. I think there's too much money here not to try.. and that all this Nba europe Live tours, and preseason games with european teams is a sign..
however, 'bout black guys: 'm not talkin about african ID Card players. I'm saying that africa is where black USA guys come from. And it's in the DNA. When they learn how to play, teams like Congo, Angola, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, and all the teams in Central Africa will have the same, maybe more, muscolar power that USA has. Have you had the chance to watch the soccer World Championship, how strong are they? They have an enormous gap about the tactics and technics, but they'll catch up.
Or are you an athlethics (I never remember what's the right place for those "h"s...) fan? Are you noticing what's happening to USA superpower in world championships? Panama, Giamaica, Nigeria, Camerun, T&T, St. Kitts and Nevis, Cuba.. (And some of these are sooo small!)
Watch those american guys in the face.. call them afroamerican, if you want, but Central Africa is full with potential athletes like LBJ (not because they're better, it's just because there's many of them :) ).. it's just that it's not so easy to learn b-ball when you have to take care of the lion in the garden ;)

You are right. That is the reason the spanish gov. try so hard to bring inmigrants from Africa. That way, young spanish players could compete against black guys with real motivation in national competitions.

soccer....those few who make that excuse are dumb....soccer doesnt matter here, so no one really cares enough to make excuses for them.
im not saying america is best at all sports (not even close) just basketball,football(american) and golf? you can have the rest.
i would say the only reason argentina is the defending champion is because of our coah of that team! larry brown. he hardly played melo and LBJ...melo has been our best player. thats kinda like argentina not playing manu!
