i agree. it weird because it almost seems as though there are two different sports being played in the world. USA basketball and world basketball. when we come over to play in these tournaments, its like were playing a different game. the 3-point line is 3 feet closer! whats up with that? and we wont really go into the whole ref thing. thats the one thing i hate about USA basketball is the star treatment. but i would rather have that than fiba craziness! i have a question....can anyone tell me why the lane is a crazy shape? also, why is there no free throw line....i didnt see one, just ads or something

I think the success of a country in any sport depends on a lot of factors:

-Tradition: Italy and motorsports, Austria in winter sports.
- Money: I think Bolivia has little oportunities to be good in any sport
- Politics: Ussr in any sport
- Size: helps if you have tradition and money. Norway hardly can be a power in soccer (they are very rich).
- Great Business around sport: USA in basketball. Italy in Soccer.

lane of a crazy shape: don't understand.

free throw line: there is , it's just that you don't see it from tv. but they do. it's usually inside the ads.
the field difference I know of are the three point line, which is, if I remember well, 50 cm nearer (not three feet.. it should be 6,75 vs 6,25) and the painted area, which on a side is rectangular and on the other is.. trapezoidal.. (does this word exist? )

There is a free throw line, but is not standing out like you we are used to.

Isn't that similar to NCAA?

These world championships scare me. Just when you think your lead is safe, these clowns start jacking up 3's from all angles and make them.

the free throw lane is a trapezoid instead of a rectangle!
it IS about 3 feet different. the NBA is 23'9"
and the international is 20' ?"
the ncaa is alittle bit closer the international i believe. at the top of the key the line is even with the circle in the NCAA, and in international its a little of a gap

You are right. People donīt notice that Fiba and NBA are different sports. In an earlier post i tried to explain this. If you choose to participate in a FIBA world championship you have to be prepared. You canīt say "they play zone D". You have to demostrate you are best with this rules to be the champion of this tournament.
In some way USA is somethig like a gest in the championship because we know they play a different game at home. And we are glad to host USA and see your players on court agaist ours.

This is not about superiority or dominance.

The 3pt line is closer because zone D is legal. So you can beat the zone shooting from outside the line.

hahaha..Wade and LeBron are better than McGrady, Iverson..Stoudemire looks like he might be done so he is no longer considered great...Arenas ?? gimme a break..Shaq ?? Howard looks like a young Shaq....some people think that Wade and LeBron may be as good as or better than Kobe....Duncan is horrible in international ball the last time we saw it
