Default I'm picking for the Blazers

In a mock draft in the NBA Draft forum. I'm a Pacers fan, so my knowledge of your team's limited. Who are some of the guys you'd like to see drafted, positions of need, stuff like that.

Default Re: I'm picking for the Blazers

PG and SF are the best candidates for us. Our favorites seem to be Westbrook and DJ Augustin, but they will likely go before #13 (not many Blazer fans are expecting to stay at #13 in reality). SG's are probably our last need since we have Roy, Rudy, Jack(currently), and Webster who can each fill that spot at the moment. So pretty much, go for a PG if there is a good quality one, and if not, choose the best player available who is not a SG. I would think that if we were to select a C or something, it would be a guy that we would develop that is more of a "potential" guy rather than a contribute immediately guy. We have Oden at the C spot with Przybilla backing him up. Getting a C would be incase there was a setback with Oden's knee and so we could develop the guy to be Przybilla's replacement in a few years.

Hope that helps. I'm curious what other Blazer fans would think.

Myth hit it on the head. From a little different perspective the Blazers need stronger perimeter defense (Webster is getting there), distance shooting, and a good distributor.

Top priority would be a PG. I like Westbrook, but not really into short PGs - Stoudamire, Telfair - and would pass on Augustin (Chris Paul is the exception that makes the rule).

Next would be SF. Alexander (?) - high energy, horrible 3 pt % in college. ???

But, as Myth said, we are talking Pritchard here. There will probably be some horse trading occurring on draft day.

Westbrook (to NJ, curiously) and Augustin (Indy) were both off the board as expected, as was Joe Alexander. So I went Danilo Galinari. Maybe the pick'll get traded, maybe not, but Galinari fills a need as a much-more offensive minded SF.

I think thats a good pick. Not many predict he'll fall to #13, so I'm cool with that.

agreed. i don't think he'd fall that far, and he's a great offensive small forward. that would be an upgrade, if he pans out to be as good as predicted.

In reality I think if Augustine, Westbrook and Alexander are gone then Portland will select Donte Greene or trade the pick.

I've recently heard that Brandon Rush is being considered. I don't know enough about him to say if that sounds worth it to me or not, but most had him going more 15-20. I trust KP's evaluation though, and if he likes him, I like him. If not.... well you know.

New Jersey is rumored to like Galinari, but not at #10 if Westbrook falls to #10 (he's rumored as high as #4 to the Sonics), and we could get Galinari at #13, we could trade him to New Jersey (plus filler, a second rounder or future first rounder)........we get Westbrook and they get Galinari - plus a pick.

imo DeAndre Jordan is the pick if you need a C, hes been falling behind the draft and youll need to take a risk of taking him.

Agreed about him being the pick if we are getting a center, but I don't think we need to draft a center.

What I've read:

Positive:

Good wingspan
Good outside shot
Excellent defense - perimeter and inside
Strength

Negative:

6'6" to 6'7" - a little short for NBA SF and our SG spot is getting full (Roy and Fernandez)
Ball handling skills

Maybe worth a shot at 13. Can play swing. But who really believes Pritchard is staying at 13?

With the guys KP is looking at now, Rush and so on, guys projected in the bottom half of the first round, it looks like he Blazers have basically already traded down in the draft. I'm interested in what deal they got. I mean Rush could jump all the way up to 13 but Batum and others? These are ckear cut end of the first round guys, not lottery picks.

Anyways, I'd love Rush on the team. He would bring great defense to the small forward position, which is something that is missing from that position on the current roster, we wouldn't lose any shooting or athleticism if we started Rush over Webster. He isn't short for a small forward. Martell Webster is 6'7". It isn't like there is an abundance of 6'9" or 6'10" small forwards in the NBA...Lamar Odom, Travis Outlaw, Rashard Lewis, Kevin Durant.

I wouldn't mind seeing Portland select Rush, Greene or trade the pick whether its to move some pieces as well as moving up or getting something and moving down.

The Blazers also invited Westbrook who could go as high as 7 and Augustin, who could also go as high as 7.

And out of everybody in the top 10, both are the most likely to fall spots.

Westbrook because of his shot and inexperience
Augustine because of his size.
