Default Who should the Rockets draft

As far as players they have a realistic shot at getting, who should they draft?

Rodney Carney would be my choice but the best player available will suffice.

No way you use an 8th pick on Redick. That guy is going to fall to late first round at best, most likely the 2nd round.

well JJ would help us a lot and pls dont be blind on Carney athletic ability the kid has a low BBALL iq and redick fits well with us... even thou they doubt his defensive capabilty he will not guard top offensive players JVG is not that dumb.. he will come off the bench for us provide us with outside snipping..

Ronnie Brewer.

If we do not take this guy, we WILL regret it as we watch him blossom into an incredible player in some other city.

Not that this is an exact science, but it certainly helps my case for Brewer...and, probably surprisingly to many of you guys, it's not so good for Carney...

Quote:
1. Ronnie Brewer, SG, Arkansas
% Chance to Start – 61.40%
Was similar to: Joe Johnson, Caron Butler, Michael Finley
This draft isn’t as strong at the top as it has been in the last few years. But if any player is going to develop into an All-Star, it will most likely be Brewer. He has almost every factor going in his favor. He’s very athletic with an NBA body, so he can physically handle the league. On the court, he can pretty much do everything with the only question mark being the funky release on his shot. It probably cannot be corrected because it stems from a childhood accident, but it does go in with some regularity. From an intangibles perspective, there should be no questions as he’s had no off-the-court problems. Also, he’s been around the game his whole life, since his father, Ron Brewer was an eight year vet.

Quote:
(Didn't make list) Rodney Carney, SF, Memphis
% Chance to Start – 14.40%
Was similar to: Tayshaun Prince, James Jones, Kyle Korver
Carney is an absolute enigma on the offensive end. He has a ton of athleticism, but doesn’t use it very much, since he spends most of his time jacking up three pointers. In fact, half of his field goal attempts over the course of his career were threes. He doesn’t look to pass, so this may be a bigger problem in the pros. His best chance to stick will probably be with his defense. He puts up solid stats and is athletic enough to stay in front of people, so that does work in his favor.

We have to take Ronnie. Especially if the Hawks are taking Shelden Williams.

Boston and Minnesota will take whoever Shelden knocks out of the top 5-6.

So if they take Shelden, that means we don't get Morrison, Aldridge, Shelden, Gay, Bargnani, Roy, or Ty Thomas.

That leaves my boy. We don't need Marcus Williams or Randy Foye.

Unfortunately (or hopefully fortunately), Ronnie Brewer came in as the 2nd best ranked athlete at the combine. I'm not sure who was #1, as the list I saw was only of big name draftees. The top guy must have been a second rounder like James White, possibily.

Brewer had a 41" vertical, second only to Jordan Farmar at 42" (I know...WTF, right?). He benched 185lbs 19 times, which was second only to Shelden Williams with 25. He was middle of the pack in lane agility, and was 2nd in the sprint (3.14) to the speed demon Rodney Carney (3.06).

All in all he really kicked some ass, but that may not be a good thing if his stock moves up considerably. I'm starting to get worried that he won't be there at 8

David Noel was the #1 athlete.

I still don't see him going higher than our pick. It would be crazy if he did (assuming the Hawks do take Williams at #5).

But hey, that's our gain.

I'm pumped now. I tried to stay away from hyping RB up for our pick so I wouldn't look like a massive homer, but his selection actually sounds like the best thing for us right now.

Ronnie is still a young player and he is still going to get a lot better. Trust me.

Those are some videos of the draftees. Rather lengthy, actually, though some just show the same 4 or 5 plays from a lot of different angles. Still fun to check out though. Richard Roby looks like quite an interesting possibility in the second round...
