Saw a couple articles that mentioned that Portland might be interested in trading for Phoenix Suns' point guard Leandro Barbosa....I like that idea!!! Just depends on what we want to give up......he's a 6'3 lightning bug......would love to see him teamed up with Roy.........what do you guys think????
The rumors I saw were Outlaw or Webster + Jack + #13. Too steep if you ask me. Though, I do really like Barbosa's speed. For a cheaper price, I'd love to have him.
Hey guys, can draft-pick trades only happen on trade day? I think so..but a friend says no. Just wondering, because its kind of relative, and it doesn't warrant a whole new thread. Thanks.

I think they can be traded on other days. I think that once they are signed they can't be traded for a certain amount of time though.

As long as the window for trades is open you can trade whatever you want. Once the trade deadline is closed you cant trade again until on draft day. Which is why almost all daraft pick trades happen on draft day.

I thought that until recently too, but if you check the official rules, teams can begin trading again as soon as they are eliminated from the playoffs (or as soon as the season is over if you are not in the playoffs). Its a strange rule. Thats also how Memphis already offered us Mike Miller and we rejected it.
I don't think Barbosa is what we're looking for at point guard. He has no defense and would put tremendous pressure on a rookie Oden and LaMarcus Aldridge in the post to stop penetrating guards. I would believe that we'd see a lot of Oden foul outs and a lot of foul trouble for both guys.
Barbosa is an upgraded version of Jarrett Jack. Rudy is expected to take over Jack's role on the team, so where would Barbosa fit? He doesn't.
This is exactly what confuses me about Blazer fans seeming to like this trade.
What do we need Barbosa for? Nothing.
Is Barbosa a decent player? Of course. But so is Kobe... do we want Kobe?
We can only have so many guards, and adding another middle of the road performer is not what we need at the position.
We're about to have the best front line rotation in the entire league... we don't need to make trades which offer no actual improvement to our backcourt... it's the only part of our roster ripe for improvement. (Which is amazing considering that we'll be rocking Roy + Fernandez).
