Default Seattle Times: No Pick Swap With Clips

http://blog.seattletimes.nwsource.co...dex.html#29819

Quote:
A Sonics team source steadfastly denied an ESPN report that has Seattle sending its fourth pick to the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for the No. 7 pick and a protected first-round pick in 2009.

ESPN writer Ric Bucher first broke the story earlier today and ESPN college basketball analyst Steve Lavin is also reporting the trade.

The team source, however, says the Sonics are not making a deal involving those picks. The source declined to verify or deny if Seattle is engaged in other trades, but repeatedly said: "What's being reported is not true. It's inaccurate."

Quote:
A club source described a Sonics trade with the Clippers to swap draft picks as "very" premmature and there is no deal yet.

Stay tuned

Hopefully that is the case.

I believe this report. why?
because such trades always go down when the pick is on the clock...not this far in advance.

Them being who? Sonics, yes it was. They could have ended up with Lopez or possibly Love at #7 like they want and add a Lotto Protected 09 Pick that's unprotected in 2010.

For the Clippers? No, unless they somehow ended up with Mayo OR drafted Bayless

Also because this seemed to be nothing but a rumor to me, and generally, rumors are leaked after the teams have discussed it. If they had agreed, it would have been done, but it isn't, and was still just a rumor.

Sigh of relief from me when I read this.

not to bring you down, but that trade could still happen. It has clearly been discussed.
Im guessing the two teams are going to see how the top 3 picks unfold and then make the decision.

I know it still has a possibility, but I don't really see it with the speculation that if Mayo's not gone, the deals off. We can just end up with Bayless/Westbrook/Augustine at #7. At this point, I don't even want Gordon.

I said this in the other thread about this topic:

If Minny doesn´t take Mayo, I think the Clippers would have tried to trade #4 + extra to Miami for #2

trading for future picks isnt what it used to be. its more of a gamble, you never know which players will perform on the college level, considering so many top prospects just went to prom.
