You would be upset with the money a late 1st rounder makes? Getting more money is all about ego.

No. Getting money is all about helping your family and friends. If anything, taking the RELATIVE chump change + championship is about ego.

You sound like Latrell Sprewell. You couldn't help your family and friends with around a mil a year?

Why would you care about being a star if you never had a chance for a championship

Nobody said never. He just said you'd be the #1 pick, meaning you'd likely goto a crappy team. You can still lead your team to a title in the future.. much better than riding on the coattails of a team of veterans on their way to a championship, and you just happened to be there along for the ride

ok so you're telling me that if you went out to look for a job you'd take mcdonalds at 25G/yr over working at a bank making 100Gs?

As a guy in the league i'd want the ball in my hands instead of coming off the bench. For a lot of people it's more about playing than winning, especially at that age.

I could but I could help them and myself A LOT more with 1st pick money.

1st overall pick: Guaranteed $21 million over 4 years (assuming both option years are picked up)

29th overall pick: Guaranteed $5 million over 4 years (assuming both option years are picked up)

This question is so easy to answer that it boggles me that there is even a debate.

Are you comparing 25G/yr to a mil a year?

Let's put it into perspective real quick..

1996 Draft..

Allen Iverson.. #1 pick.. no rings...
Derek Fisher.. Late-first rounder.. 3 rings..

Do I have to ask who has had the better life thus far?

OK.. how about a more recent draft... 2003...

Lebron James.. #1 pick.. no rings..
Carlos Delfino.. late-first rounder.. won a ring with Detroit in his rookie year (or was it 2nd year?)

Who lives the better life you think?

Ok.. end thread.

yeas because it's the same ratio. these days a million dollars is not that much and out great country ends up taking a big portion of that in taxes. Athletes are not guaranteed to make the same salary till they're 50-60 so they have to make as much as they can while they can.

You can't put that into a ratio. C'mon now. A guy making 25G/yr working at McDonald's is a low life. How do you connect that with making a mil a year to play basketball?
