Thumbs up S&T Idea: Maggette for Hinrich

The Clips' are very thin at PG with Brevin Knight the only PG signed to the roster. Maggette is opting out of his contract but with the salary cap not
likely to get as good $$$$ as he could with the Clips. Also, last year's
draft pick Al Thornton is the future for the Clips at SF and look for
Eric Gordon to be the same at SG. This takes away most of Maggette's
minutes and he is a 20 PPG starting SF/SG.

Hinrich is expendable with the drafting of the one franchise player Derrick
Rose in this draft. Maggette gives the Bulls a slashing physical scorer
for Rose to pass too. Both Nocioni and Maggette will get opponents in
foul trouble. Maggette averaged 10 FT pg last year and shot 80%.
He rebounds well with a career 5 a game. Add the fans will like rooting
for a native son and he will enjoy playing in the United Center.

The Clips must first sign Maggette and then the deal can happen.
This is a win win deal for both teams and both players.

I like how you're thinking... to fill a need both for our team and the team we are trading with.. but what about getting a big that can score in the post?

Kirk Hinrich, TT, '09, '10 1st round picks for Elton Brand

Again, clips need a PG and they are going young, so someone like TT with huge upside will fit in well with their young, running style. The picks aren't too shabby either. I honestly think that this deal would greatly benefit both teams... is it just me? Or is this deal as obvious as it looks to me?

That sounds good. I really see the Bulls and the Clips doing business together this offseason. Maggette and Brand, both are a nice fit for the Bulls at this point. It's nice to see people noticing that.

A 19 yr old kid, you're begging him to run the team? ? ?

Have Heinrich stay 'til the trading deadline. Deron Williams did not start until mid-season, and he had 3 yrs at Illinois. Rose is a remarkable talent, but these guys are playing basketball for money. Patience.

I really dont think TT is going anywhere....i think the type of bball that vinny wants to play we have to keep TT...I doubt paxson is gonna wanna trade him without seeing what he can do with rose. I honestly feel like hes gonna be a beast in the open floor...but then again he will prolly get embarrased by other pf's in the league on D.

Out of curiousity why would you want another SF? Deng was untouchable last year so I would assume they will resign him and he will get the majority of the minutes there. It seems to me you would try to move one of your SF's and Hinrich and try to get a nice low post scorer. I can't think of too much off the top of my head but the Knicks need a PG and they are trying to unload Randolph's contract.

But remember, Deron Williams nor Chris Paul did in the NCAA what Rose did as a freshmen. Rose isn't gonna step and be Paul or Williams right away, but he is a lot better than they were at 19, believe dat.

Maggette is better than any current player on the Bulls. This is the kind of deal that Paxson needs to make. Good size for a swingman and gets a ton of free throws.

Maggette can play sg. He also brings something the bulls doesnt have and thats consistency, ability to create his own shot, and ability to create his own shot. But I dont know if trading Kirk will affect Rose. Being a starting pg right away might put a lot of pressure on a 19yr old. But then again, it might speed up his development if he starts right away. depends on how he can handle the situation i guess.

Maggette and/or Brand will be great additions. Krstic might also be available with the Nets now loaded with pf/c

How about a trade like this that would land both Maggette and Brand?
Bulls trade Hinrich, Gordon, Tyrus, Simmons, and an 09' first round pick for Maggette and Brand.

Bulls linuep:

Derrick Rose, sign a point gaurd or keep Shannon Brown (two chicago natives)
Corey Maggette, Thabo Sefolsha, Larry Hughes
Luol Deng, Andres Nocioni
Elton Brand, Drew Gooden (PF/C)
Joakim Noah , (free agent), Aaron Gray

Next step would be to move Hughes some way, probably sign a back up point gaurd and a center with some NBA experience.

If something like this were to happen Bulls would definatley be top 5 in the East. If not right away than really soon.

I like your thinking but you may not be able to throw rose in their right away and we should get a veteran at point guard thats not too expensive. Instead of gordon i would actually throw nocioni in the deal because he is a better fit for the clips. I would sign a backup SF like Walter Hermann who can shoot lights out. As far as backup center there is not much to chose from but you have a crop of Jamal Magloire, Desagna Diop who would be really good for defensive purposes, or Kurt Thomas who is Old but can defend and has a decent midrange shot.

good for the clippers but bad for us.....we would never make that deal because we would still have the same problem with another wing player on the roster and a injury prone one at that even though he did have a healthy season this year.....and trust me....you dont want Hinrich as your point guard...maybe at the 2-guard but not at the 1 you've been warned lol
