Default Carlos Delfino might be leaving

Rumours say in insidehoops.com, Carlos Delfino might be leaving raptors.

If this would happend, we might get another SG.

Maybe Hamilton?

Quote:
Raptors may not keep Delfino

The Toronto Star (Doug Smith) reports: The one player who seems to be on his way out is restricted free agent Carlos Delfino. Because of financial constraints, and the desire to give coach Sam Mitchell a chance to establish a regular rotation, Delfino doesn’t appear to have a future with the Raptors. And because of those same issues, it’s unlikely Toronto would entertain a sign-and-trade proposition for Delfino, who may end up heading to Europe, where he’s sure to command a greater salary than he’ll get in the NBA.

Delfino will probably be gone this offseason, but there is no way the raptors will get Hamilton. According to most sites Delfino will be gone because of Cap space problems and I just don't think the Raptors will be able to get Hamilton. (too bad though, I really liked Delfino as a Raptor)

wait a minute, are we over the cap? according what I see, we were 19th in overall payroll last season, there's no way we're over the cap. am I missing something?

We are way over the cap.

After we sign Jose and use our MLE we should be nearing the luxury tax threshold.

I liked Delfino ..but thought he forced alot of shot's and was streaky ..maybe we can replace him with a more consistent player..

Basically 25 or more teams are over the cap....so 19th doesn't really mean anything.

I thought Delfino was an OK player for us. Just his constant chucking of 3's got annoying after awhile. And I thought he did well during the playoffs too.

Delfino would be more use to us if he was better defensivly. Although it did seem last year that he was the only Raptor to take it to the rim with authority from the SF pos. Moon fell in love with finger roll IMO...to much watching Dr. J highlights i think...

Yeah his chucking did get annoying though....

Bye Bye Carlos....

yaa his lack of defense basically made him a jason kapono but less consistent shot..maybe pietrus could be a good replacement

All agree, except his chucking of shots was caused by the teams lack of ability to score... he chucks shots when:
a) he is on fire, and makes them in streaks
b) when there is only less than 5 seconds in shot clock

I loved Delfino... good luck in Europe nevertheless

Pietrus would solve our problems a SF. All we could offer him though would be the MLE, IMO he's looking for more then that. Not sure why, he's been a bench player in GS averaging 7pts 3boards in 20mins per. I think he's way better then that.

basically a good two way player.

Most teams can only offer guys the MLE, so Pietrus better be willing to accept it or he's in for a long summer. The financial landscape has changed, and I think it's in the owner's favour right now, at least this offseason.

Talks of Artest, Magg accepting the MLE.....so I think Pietrus could be a great add for that value.

Though he's not a huge loss, I did enjoy Delfino while he was on the team. He was great rebounder for a wing player, and pretty good passer/ball handler that could play a little point when needed. He seemed like a solid dude, I hope he finds a good situation in Europe.
