I would go with Bosh over Amare for a game winning 3.

Spot on.

Bosh > Amare

Sure Amare does well to get open, good on him, there is no doubt i would take him before Bosh but that doesn't make him the better shooter.

My heart says Bosh, numbers (and statman32) say Amare, so I think it's a deadlock.

Bosh has been the better mid range shooter for 4 of the past 5 years, which is why most people are going to say Bosh. I still beleive Bosh is the better shooter, he just looks much more smooth and natural, even tho the stats of last season say differently, i would say Bosh > Amare in shooting, but not by much anymore...

I haven't watched enough of Bosh to say for sure, but he does have a hell of a shot for a big man.

As for Amare - as someone who's watched a tonne of Suns games this year, I can say for sure that he is a pretty good shooter. Before it was mostly open shots for him. Nowadays (last year and especially this year) he does the following to get his jumpshots:
- Obviously still gets some open looks
- Jab step, shoot
- Fake, one quick dribble forward, pull up (sometimes a fadeaway if tightly contested) from about 15 feet
- Cut without the ball to get open, shoot as defender closes in
- Back down dribble, turnaround and fade slightly from close-to-mid range
- Jumpers off pick and pops
That's what I've seen from watching as many Suns games as I could this season.

Now back to Amare vs Bosh. The statistics that have been posted seem to say that Amare is better. And at 25.2 ppg, and 28.5 after the AS break, there's no doubt that he's the first option on the Suns.

But in terms of who is the better shooter - i.e. if they took 1,000,000 shots, who would make the most? I don't know. Why? Because I have an accurate gauge of how good Amare's jumper is, but I haven't watched nearly as many Raptors games as I have Suns games. And thus I can't make any real solid conclusions about Bosh's jumpshot simply because I haven't seen enough of it. Single digit games watched is probably not enough to say for sure.

Though for a lot of posters in this thread, apparently it is.

(Raps and Suns are my two favorite teams...so I have seen ton of both there games.)

It really depends on where they are shooting from.
Amare is better from 3, and a good a good pull up close range shooter.

Bosh is better from just inside the arc-midrange area, and much better shooting turning to a shoulder from a post move. imo Bosh makes more of the contested jumpers he takes, but has poorer shot selection due to his team situation (which I do count against him somewhat).

Bosh has better mechanics (more consistant release point, less leg kick).

Since I was asked: I would say Bosh is the better shooter in terms of skill...but Amare is close to as effective in terms of in game results.

Bosh is not a good 3pt shooter...but takes very few in the course of normal Raptors game. He only really added it to his game recently though, so it likely will develop somewhat.
