Default What team would benefit the most from Vince Carter? Mavs, Magic or Suns?

Mavs trade

Jerry Stackhouse, Eddie Jones and Devean George for Vince Carter since all are expiring.

That would give the Mavs a lineup of:

Mavs
PG Kidd/Barea
SG Vince/Terry
SF Howard/Wright
PF Dirk/Bass
C Dampier/Allen

For the Suns, why not trade:
Raja Bell and Grant Hill for Vince Carter since both (Bell and Hill will expire the year New Jersey wants the salary relief in 2010)?

That would give them a lineup of:

Suns
PG Nash/Barbosa/Strawberry
SG Carter/Giricek
SF Diaw/Piatkowski/Tucker
PF Amare/Marks
C Shaq/Skinner

For the Magic, why not just trade Battie and Redick and Cook and a 1st round pick for Vince Carter since all 3 will be expiring in 2010?

That would give them a lineup of:

Magic
PG Nelson/Dooling
SG Vince/Bogans
SF Hedo/Evans
PF Lewis/Garrity
C Dwight/Foyle

Which lineup would be the greater threat?

I think Dallas would be near the top with that lineup.

i dont think he would help the mavs that much. theyve already got josh howard hogging the ball from dirk, they don't need another one.

i think it helps the magic the most. in the east, that team could legitimately handle the celtics.

without taking details into play, i love that lineup for the magic. carter vs bogans? on paper it's a no brainer

then again, i can't see the nets wanting to give up 3 roster spots for battie, jj & brian "2 inch vert" cook. if the magic slide evans over to sg to use primarily as a defender, i think it still works well

What about Utah?

Deron / Price
VC / Brewer / Ager
AK / Korver
Boozer / Milsap / Fesenko
Krstic / Koufos / Collins

Would be a NASTY line-up

Maybe Nj could get...

Okur
Hapring or Korver
Almond or Brewer
#2
Hart (only cause I'm a Syracuse fan)

for

VC
Krstic
Ager
$3M trade exception

OR

Even better would be reuniting LBJ and Boozer....

Boozer could opt out next year and Utah lose him for nothing.

In which case..

Boozer
Korver or Harpring
Almond or Brewer
Collins (YES! Twin is back)
Hart

for

VC
Krstic
Boone
Hassell
Trade exception
#2

D. Williams / Price
V C / Brewer / Hassell
A K / Korver
Milsap / Boone / Fesenko
Okur / Krstic / Koufos

Another contending squad IMO.

Trading Grant Hill for whatever reason is pretty strange. The guy just recently confirmed he'd picked up his option to play his final year with us, and retire as a Sun. And goodness knows what will happen to him without our medical staff. He's been extremely classy about everything. Business is business, but in his particular case, it's a guy who declined more money in order to come play for less, to enjoy his last few years on a team with suitable medical facilities. To trade him just like that would be pretty low and something they'd probably not consider.

It would be like if Mutombo decided to come back for 1 last year with Houston, and they traded him for someone.

probably the mavs. definitely not the suns. the suns defense would be DREADFUL with that line-up.

The Nets aren't going to give away VC...if they do, they won't be able to compete at all, and the Nets won't let that happen. If they think they can get LeBron, then they know they can't lose their fanbase before that happens...

He would help the Magic the most. Though, Carter is a huge asset to a lot of teams. He may be classed as soft and all, though he will bring crowds to teams struggling with crowd numbers.

He would'nt help the Magic the most, adding another guy who can score easily but play no defense? How is that help?

He helps the Suns the most I think.

Raja Bell is undersized at shooting guard and is more suited for the bench and as a defensive replacement. You have Shaq and Amare in the post to swat all interior penetration, an unselfish ball distributor and you finally find playing time for Boris Diaw. Not to mention Carter's huge contract will end about the same time as Shaq's I believe which would be around 40 million off the books. Don't they both have three years left? Or two? I don't remember.

Suns would benefit most. It would create an inside outside punch with Amare and VC. Carter can create his own shot plus we all see his resurrgence playing with a guy like Kidd. Imagine him getting easy looks and dunks with Nash. Nash, Amare, VC would be a very potent trio. They would make some serious noise in the West and it would make the Shaq deal not look as bad. He would help the Magic, but would help the Suns moreso.

However, none of these teams have the pieces for VC. Not sure if this is totally true, but I heard Cavs offered up Wally and expirers for VC bfore draft day and they declined. I think they are looking for more than just expiring coontracts. They will likely request a nice young prospect along with expiring deals. Suns and Magic dont have the contracts or prospects that would be attractive
