No need to talk out of your ass. Pierce was one of the original 24 selected, but was unable to participate due to minor elbow surgery.
well hes closer to the truth than most of the posters in this thread. I am surprised that so many people dont know about the team selection process since its been ongoing for three years and had a lot of media coverage. as stated before, kg and allen declined to participate and PP was withdrawn/withdrew because of a minor injury 2 years ago AIR
the Celtics Big Three would definitely be effective players on TEam USA. but Colangelo only wants players who are 100% committed to being there who want to be there and want to help the USA Win the gold medal.
after 2000, KG basically said "meh, i've been there done that." and with that lackadaisical attitude, JC basically said no thanks. the same with Tim Duncan who said he would never play in FIBA again.
i mean, look this year at Amare Stoudemire. he said he wanted to protect his knee and now he's a forgotten man for Team USA.
as for Allen, he has declined as he wants to rest his body, spend time with his familiy, etc...
and Pierce... if you don't know about Pierce and the 2002 World Championships, then you are a newbie Celtic fan (cough bandwagon)
