You Have to RENOUNCE guys with capholds to be able sign big time Free agents outright.
Elton's caphold isn't 16 mil like it would have been if he were to pickup his option. As of right now, we have $29,225,640 fully committed, so even if his caphold is his full salary, which iirc, it isn't, we'd still have about 13 mil in cap space, which could end up being enough to ink Baron, if it isn't, we send Knight packing somewhere for a distant 2nd to open up 2 mil in space.

Re: Baron Davis Opts out
I just realized Maggette opted out as well.
Maybe I jumped the gun, the Clippers could be a player. They have the flexiblity.
But Donald Sterling aint the one to shell dollars.

Just got word that Baron Davis has unexpectedly exercised his opt-out clause, foregoing the $17.8 million due him next season, and making him a free agent as of tomorrow. (The Clippers' Elton Brand just did the same). More details to come ASAP, but at the very least, this puts the Warriors' back at the negotiating table with their franchise PG, and perhaps makes a sign-and-trade more likely.
