Default My made-up idea: Melo To The Hawks?

Quote:
Hawks:
Carmelo Anthony

Nuggets:
Josh Smith(Sign & Trade)
Marvin Williams
2009 1st Round Pick

I've been saying for the past 2 years that Carmelo doesn't fit the style of play that Denver wants to accomplish under George Karl in which they spread the court and run,and the objective to victory is to outscore the opponent.

Josh Smith would be great spreading the court at the 4 for Denver because he has great length, can block shots in transition, and can score around the basket.

Melo in Atlanta would allow the Hawks to retain Josh Childress and sign a C to some of the MLE allowing Horford to play PF.Melo in the EC as the #1 Option for Atlanta could average between 28-30 PPG and draw fans to Phillips Arena to see a team that's in the bottom 10 in the NBA in attendance.Melo would be able to take pressure off of Joe Johnson allowing Johnson to settle as the #2 option.

Denver Lineup:
SG-Iverson
SG-Smith
SF-Williams/Kleiza
PF-Smith
C-Camby

Atlanta Lineup:
PG-Bibby
SG-Johnson
SF-Anthony
PF-Horford
C-Diop

anthony is not that much more valuable then smith to justify the hawks also giving up williams and a draft pick. and since when is diop on the hawks? (edit: missed the part about signing a center for the MLE)

i do like the idea of smith on the nuggets. it would work well. i just don't see the hawks doing that trade.

Great idea, but Horford already has #15.

Where the heck did Diop come from? As far as I know Dallas want him back from NJ

Williams is included because he would serve no purpose on the Hawks' behind Melo, neither are able to play any other position effectively besides the 3 and Carmelo plugs in close to 37 MPG on average.

I'd think Atlanta would make a deal like this if the Smith negotiations go sour but I doubt Denver is going to trade Melo this offseason unless he gets arrested or demands a trade.

I mentioned signing a C for some of the MLE.

Atlanta would be able to bring in Diop or Kwame, but by including Kwame everyone will say the Hawks will suck just so they can say that Kwame sucks.

true, he would serve no purpose. but i think he is still more of a valuable trading chip. maybe with a 3-way trade (im not coming up with a scenario...) they could trade away the same amount of assets, but come up with another asset in return for giving up williams.

Its funny you say that because I wanted to include Seattle giving up Chris Wilcox in return for Marvin Williams but Williams once again would serve no purpose on Seattle as a back-up to KD at the 3.

Melo sucks.

I want my two favourite players on the same team though - anthony/horford would be nasty.

Melo will never go back to #22 though!

Diop can block shots and grab boards.

I don't think Atlanta needs a guy looking to score first.
