Why give 10 mil to a guy who on a given night, can quit on your team, get into a fight, get techs, make a rap cd, contradicts himself, and is just crazy...
You would loose out on a LOT of money... Thats why I feel he doesnt get the big bucks, he always has mental and temper problems...
But he CAN be a really good player

I'd rather risk 10mill on him than have dampier(10m), Jerome James(6m), Jeffries(6m), Hughes(12m), WallyZ(12m)

Another guy whom i feel like underpaid compared to others is Maggette @7m and hedo.

Does it have anything to do with the sf position? Maybe bec its the easiest position to fill.

I remember a theory being put forth a while ago that Ron has an inferiority complex. maybe he would be uncomfortable with too large of a contract? maybe growing up, he didnt really have expectations so he's scared of expectations being placed on him? other nba players are like, screw it, ill get the money first

Ron used to be one of my favorite players... but the guy is bad news.

He's been fined and arrested for animal abuse multiple times. One time he left his 2 dogs in a back yard for weeks without food or water. The neighbors had to feed the dogs and eventually called the police.

He was also arrested while in Sacramento for beating his girlfriend. He pleaded no contest I believe and barely escaped jailtime.

Like I said, I was a huge Artest fan, even after the brawl. However, torturing animals and beating women is a different story.

At this point I'de say Artest's value is about 40% of his talent because he's a complete mental wreck.

Default Artest Will NOT Opt. Out

Didn't see this anywhere, just delete it if it's already posted or something.

Quote:
On the last night of the NBA Finals, Ron Artest said he was "99 percent sure" he wouldn't opt out of his contract with the Sacramento Kings. Make it 100.

"Not opting out," Artest told ESPN.com's Marc Stein via e-mail Monday night. "The Kings have been there for me, so the best I could do is stay in my contract."

Artest's agent, Mark Stevens, confirmed that his client will fulfill the final year, worth nearly $8 million.

Artest played in only 57 games due to injury last season and averaged 20.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3468447

I was almost certain that I saw a thread saying he would opt. out so I wasn't sure.

Well he'll probably get dealt around the trade deadline for some young pieces before he leaves in the Offseason.
