Default Charley Rosen on Team Usa's easy run

Quote:
Is it an accident that the Americans were placed in Group D, by far the weakest of the four subdivisions? And that their road to the Final Four will likely avoid the best teams in the tournament?

Hmmm. Looks like a set-up, doesn't it? Designed to give Team USA the maximum number of patsy games to get their act together before they're seriously challenged. Designed to keep the tournament's highest profile team alive as long as possible. Designed for the financial backers and TV sponsors to get the biggest bang for their bucks.

In any case, the real test will begin much later in the week, after Team USA easily disposes of Dirk Nowitzki and his mensche. Too bad. I, for one, would have loved to see Team USA engage both Spain and Argentina.

After all, the means are always more intriguing than the ends.
Rest

what is it with all these anti USA articles?

it's one thing to point out the deficiencies in the team and say how they could improve to become even better..

but it's another to come out and sound like an unpatriotic asssshole.

it seems like most of the American media WANTS the USA to fail, just because it would give them 3 or 4 more "how to fix the US Team and What Went Wrong" articles where they can act like basketball experts.

The most interesting thing about Team USA is seeing guys like Lebron James become basically useless when they are in a system in which they cannot dominate the ball.

i beg to differ. Lebron has simply become a role player.

what is it with this double standard?

people cry that these star players cannot accept their roles and help facilitate a team win.

now Lebron is doin that and now you say he is a bad player in the wrong system?

I think it's showing him to be what he is-a stat stuffer in the NBA who dominates the ball at his teammates' expense, and then idiots act liek his stats make him as good as the true elite NBA players. If he was on a team where he couldn't dominate the ball his stats would go way down

Wont happen. Germany will bet pounced and you'll mention how ineffective Bron was when he didnt dominate the ball. So dont wait for something that wont ever happen, just be up front if Bron does something to bag on you will regardless!

*yanks skirt back down*

The Usa will destroy Germany, the championship will clearly be for Spain, Argentina or the USA (maybe Greece too). They're clearly above all the other teams.

They probably will destroy Germany. But it took a hail mary 3 pointer for the US to beat Germany two years ago.

C'mon joe white. Feel free to reneg on the irrational LeBron hate whenever you feel like dealing with reality. LeBron is working within the team concept. If he were averaging 35ppg, you'd be screaming that he was a ballhog.

He is arguably the best player in the NBA, and, yes, he's better than Dirk.

Maybe he should play for Germany and chuck up 47 point games.

I am as big a dirk fan as Joe is but i dont understand his lebron hate. Lebron is a monster. On the cavs when larry hughes is hurt its pretty much him and Z on offense so yes he is gonna take a lot of shots. The same reason Dirk takes alot of shots on germany. No one who it makes any sense to pass too. Besides that Lebron has averaged over 7 and over 6 assists the last two years. Lebron is imo the best player in the nba despite my dirk man crush. Personally i would rank dirk 4th behind Bron, Duncan, and wade with kobe right there for the 4th and 5th best player but those are pretty clearly the top 5 imo but weve beaten this to death so back to the point. If any other team went undefeated no matter the comp we would be talking about them going to beat the U.S. Could the U.S. lose? Sure anyone can lose on any given night but they are clearly the cream of the crop. I hope dirk does well against them though.
