"Early this morning, through my agents, I reached a preliminary agreement with the Toronto Raptors. I want to thank Bryan Colangelo, Maurizio Gherardini, Sam Mitchell and all of the Raptors family for the confidence that they have placed in me. I am sure that together we are going to achieve big things in the future."
i wasn't worried that another team would have made a pitch to him, but i'm glad we got this out of the way early.
no chance it's less than the $8 mill per that we gave Ford.
yeah thank god that's out of the way. Look for a Ukic deal also today and then we have to see what money we have left. Probably 3-5 mil left to spend on a second or third tear SG/SF to solidify the positions
Things are looking up for the raptors. Although JO is a risk health wise, they actually got something that can really help them for Ford. And with Calderon, one of the best pick n role pg's, Bosh and JO will have their shots
They need to find a couple of nice wing players and the team will be set. If the got that, they could be contending for the 2nd or 3rd seed in the East.
The wing spots do look quite weak. I think upgrades in this area will happen either during the trade deadline (Bargnani and Parker's expiring contract?) or simply next offseason. At the moment it's not looking too good but at least the Raptors are solid in the frontcourt.
SG - Parker, Ukic, Adams
SF - Moon, Kapono, Graham
Would Maggette sign with the Raps for the mid-level? He seems like he would be a nice fit for them.
Joke idea, right? Why on earth would he opt out of his contract that pays him in the $8mil range to take LESS money in Toronto? When did Toronto become the team that players take less to play for?

I kind of prefer it this way instead of last year. Force guys to play through problems, and force Sam into having a proper rotation. Plus AP is super-durable, and Moon and Kapono can spend time as the de-facto 2 guard.
I really liked Adams when he played for NJ a couple of years ago. He and Moon will hopefully give us a nice energy combo off the bench.
