Default Luxury Tax

I know that going over the luxury tax would be rediculous, but in all honestly, can Toronto afford to do this?

If not, give your reasoning on why they shouldn't do this.

If so, give your reason why it might be a good idea to go over the tax just for a season or 2.

MLSE are business ppl and unless the owner comes out and say they will spend over the cap then a GM will otherwise is a GM's job to not go over his budget.

Just like in the real world, u dont wanna go over a budget to build a house and end up have to sell it more. For these guys, you go over 1% of the cap that's like 700,000 reason to fire you imo. (using 70mil cap as an example)

Orlando to sign Pietrus. Great addition for them at their only weakness, SG. It's too bad we haven't stepped up and go for it these next couple years. We didn't acquire JO to just be a 1 and done playoff team. This is dissapointing. If we weren't prepared to go over the tax, then why even bother with the JO deal?

Maggette to Orlando was a worry.

Pietrus to Orlando isn't. Not a guy that averaged 7 pts last year.

Don't understimate "under-the-radar" signings like Hassan Adams. Ain't sexy, but may generate good value. Which you'd have to find if u want to survive in a league with a hard cap.
