It's quite clear to me that he didn't opt out only because he wanted the money he'd be paid this season. No team was gonna give him a contract at the same rate...or so he thought..
He didn't opt out because he thought the Kings would give him a new deal. It wasn't about the money he would get this season. Once he found out Sac didn't want him back, it was too late to opt out and find deals. He saw what Diddy, Brand, Corey, etc were getting, and thought he could have gotten a good deal in FA, so he said he made a huge mistake.
Josh Howard is 28 dammit... What potential? No upside left anymore.
Lol, when players are under 30, they are automatically 'young', 'loads of years left', like Garnett when he was 29. But once they hit 30 or 30+ Bam! 'Getting old', 'going downhill' etc.
I know the rumors seem to be LO for Artest (with the fillers, etc), but that would seem to contradict things... I thought Artest wanted to play with his good friend LO (since they were in high school or something) and Kobe... so if they swapped teams, that would not accomplish his goal (then again, who knows what goals Artest really has)????

exactly and the lakers aren't willing to part lo for artest anyways. not sure how i feel about this trade...i'd love to have artest without parting with lamar, but that ain't gonna happen..

Radmanovic, Walton and 2nd round pick for Artest will be the deal.
We all believe in Mitch.
For all of you who want him, I hope you get him. A Bulls fan who was a friend of mine wished me luck with him when he joined the Pacers. Said the guy had some screws loose, was bad for team chemistry, and was on the brink of losing it in his Bulls days and it would be the same for the Pacers. We all know how that turned out.
Talked to a friend who was a Kings fan and told him the same thing when they got him. Like me, he fell in love the with talent and potential. The Kings and Artest had their honeymoon period, and then he started pulling stuff.
For whoever gets him, you better win it all this year, because 2 or 3 years down the road, he will hurt more than help.
