Why are people already claiming he's going to be a legend? In his 1st year...for all we know he can become an overpaid scrub, or have an injury. You can't make such claims from 1 season.
If you saw him in the final month or two of the season, he played as well as everyone hoped. He's clearly never going to be a "scrub."
At worst, he'll be an extremely hard-to-guard scoring machine
Diaw played extremely well for one season, what happened next season? Durant can just as easily lose motivation. Vince Carter, Stephon Marbury...are great examples.
If he will gain some weight.. then he wont be stopped as a scoring machine... probably nothing more, but the scoring will be consistant...
gervin was a stick and was a scoring machine
the weight issue might hurt at the defensive end (but dont tell tayshawn that!!)
i suspend judgment of KD until after three more years in the league (my general litmus test) the jury is still out to see if he will be a super-super star

Durant's expectations were extremely high coming in last year. People wanted him to score 30 pts, get 10 boards and 4 ast. No rookie is going to do that. He was on a bad team and carrying the load and all that said he got stronger as the year rolled on and by the end of the season, he was showing signs of greatness. I'm not saying KD will be better than any of these guys, but compare his rookie seasons to the likes of T-Mac, Kobe, Garnett and he holds up pretty good rookie comparisons. Until the Sonics, err... OKC team name gets more pieces to the puzzle, his FG% will not improve. Durant will put on weight and probably go through his career a 25 pt 6-8 reb, 3 ast guy.... yeah, that's a scrub.
He showed he can play and take over games at this early point if his career am not saying he will be a lebron james type of player but honestly durant might be an all star soon . later in the season he proved that he is a chucker and can really pass and defend 2 positions. its unfair to judge him after his rookie year however durant is worthy enough of the number 2 pick and i think he was able to prove that he belongs in this league i just hope durant will be healthy and this kid will only get better.
Durant a scrub come one...this guy is already a superstar who not only capable of scoring 30 points a game but in a few years will be a great defender...hes not a better player then lebron but he is a better defender..so please calm down on the name calling
Overrated! Doesn't have the attitude, strength or swagger. But he does have a coach who will ensure that whatever the team does, Durant will still get his stats and not embarass the GM and owner. I think it will take a while for him to adjust to the level of contact of the NBA. Shooting guards don't play much "D" for the most part. Say "boo" to him and he'd probably pee down his leg. Nice kid though and history would indicate he eventually will excell.
