Default Greece beats France, will meet USA in semifinals

Greece reamains unbeaten in the tournament after an easiner than excpected victory over France(73-56). Greece had 5 players in double figures with Papadopoulos and Fotsis leading the way with 14 points. Diamantidis had one of his best games in the championship with 13 points, 5 assists and 2 steals.
Greece once again played great defense and forced the French team to 16 turnovers while turning the ball over only 8 times.
M. Gelabale was the only French player in double figures with 12 points. France once again looked unsure without Tony Parker leading them and the Most Improved Player Of The Year, Boris Diaw only made only 3 shots and finished the game with 9 points.
Greece will now face the seemingly unbeatable USA in the semifinals to what should be a very exciting semifinals, where the US offense ,and the Greek defense will be put to test.

If Greece can still raise their defense to another level, I think they can beat the US. Greece has the great advantage of playing for several years now and they really have shown their defensive strength.

Except for DWade most of the US team members do not have enough play-off experience. I think they will "crack" under intense defensive pressure from the Greek team.

Go Greece!

these are all NBA stars/superstars, most of whom see double if not triple teams on a nightly basis and conquer it.

Lebron James himself has already seen the "Lebron Rules" which is nothing more than a series of high post traps that funnel him into shot blockers which can rotate to cover the open man if they get a ball.

Greece cannot play that sort of Bad Boy defense.

USA can only beat themselves by making bad decisions when attacking the zone, or by missing their shots.

EDIT:

JOhnnysic, the Greece USA game is tomorrow morning 6:30AM.

Greece has looked pretty impressive so far in the tournament. They share the ball extremely well and are a well oiled machine on both sides of the court. If Team USA plays the way they did today against Germany then bad things will happen.

the US's only saving grace was the fact that Germany could not box out for rebounds.

I'm sure the US will look at tape and focus on how to win tomorrow.

remember, fatigue is a factor in these games since these are essentially back-to-back-to-backs. so look for both teams to be a little sluggish in the beginning.

I honesly see US taking this by 20+....Greece is not on the U.S level, not even close...

We will have Argentina-US Worlds.

Wang you may not consider this playoffs experience but they did win the europ basketball cup or something like that. With the exact same team they have for the worlds.

Just because Tony Meija (whoever the f*ck he is) share the same opinion, doesn't mean I plagiarized, dipsh*t.

And there are plenty of experience on our team. Carmelo and Shane Battier had successful NCAA tournament runs. Hinrich went to the NCAA finals against Carmelo. Brad Miller has like 40 games of NBA playoff. Wade has won the championship. These guys have been competing all their lives. The only way they lose is because they haven't had much time together, as opposed to not having "playoff experience"

Come on man this Greek team has competed at a high international level for years, we won the European Championship last year and have been one of the top teams in the world ever since.
I'm not saying we're going to win but Greece is definetly the hardest opponet USA has faced in this tournament, regardless of what the result will be

Greece is by far better than Italy and Germany. The US has had its fair share of problems vs both teams. Conclusion? Even game. Should be interesting. I'd say the odds are 50-50
