Default Paxson's qualifications as GM

1) Former player that hit a bunch of open shots created mostly by Jordan. Including one that won a title in 93.

3) Fringe assistant under Phil Jackson for one season.(If I'm not mistaken)

2) Bulls radio analyst for a few years.

Scary to think that Del Negro probably had more qualifications to be a head coach than Paxson does to be a GM. At least there have been cases in which a head coach with zero experience has won something.(Bill Russell)

That's a big problem with the league right now. Too many people in high positions that aren't qualified to do a proper job, so the teams end up being filled with bad contracts/chemistry. Especially GMs. And unfortunately Paxson is one of those prime examples. He's in over his head.

Did you write this thread in April 2003 and forget to post it? He's been the GM for almost 5 years, you should be looking at what he has done as a GM not his qualifications from when he was hired. Plenty of GM's didn't have experience, what did Dumars do before he was in Detroit? There is no clear path to becoming a GM and many different hiring strategies have worked, this was the directions the Bulls chose to go.

Most cases it's not what you know...it's who you know. Always has been.

I'll wait and see what he does this season. I think with the signing of Del Negro (who, IMO, is a much better choice than Doug Collins was) and the drafting of Rose, Paxson has made up for some of the stupid moves he's made the past couple of seasons.
