Wink Who will replace Patrick Ewing?

Pat will be miss.....Thanks for the years in the NBA you have given the league.
Will Yao miss the development from Patrick Ewing?
Will the rockets make improvement from last yr?

Ewing ain't no slouch. Thats a misconception. He just happened to play with a guy named hakeem out there, he came at a bad time. both ewing and robinson would dominate in this era.

Default I Think Otherwise

Yea he was a good big man back in the day....
but he isnt a coach..
if anything he can teach yao maybe a couple things, like how to lift weights, and get on a healthy diet.... but c'mon...
lets get someone who can come up with gameplans, teach some x's and o's
not to diss Pat... well.. i guess i am dissing him...
but i have to have someone back me up on this...

from everything I've heard/read, it was mostly Tom Thibedauex (SP?) who worked with Yao. I'm sure that ewing showed him a few things, but their games are so dis-similar, I kinda doubt that Pat was all that usefull. If he was, it would be reasonable to think JVG would look for some one to replace him, but they arn't. So HTOWNMIKE, there's your agreement.

thanks man...
but i been thinking... its always a good thing to have a hall of famer on your side....
that being said.... i just cant see him being a coach... maybe for big men.. but i just remember seeing him emotionless on the rockets bench not budging for anything with a clip board .... then i see JvG... always trying to teach the rockets...
good point thought.. Thibidou or however you spell it, has been the main guy to work with yao...

Sounds like the rockets aren't even going to hire someone to replace him. They'll just give more responsibilities to charlie ward (not sure that ward knows more about anything than pat does)

stereotypically, PG's have a better understanding of the game than C's do, so as an actual coach, I'd think Charlie could do a better job. I have doubts that pat was actually being useful as a tutor to Yao, and if he's not doing that, then there's no need for a 7 ft clipboard holder. I could be wrong, and there's no one on the coaching staff who's going to trash pat, so I doubt anything will ever be said on the matter.

Charlie stopped being athletic a while ago, but was still useful as a backup/practice player...players like that usually don't get to stick around that long unles they provide something else usefull...although JVG is a pretty loyal guy to his players, so that may be an alternate reason for Charlie's longevity

according to jvg, ewing will not be replaced, but it would be sweet to bring dream in the mix.

i disagree, both prime shaq and prime duncan are better than ewing and robinson.

to answer the thread you should get the dream ASAP, that guy could help yao perfect the dream shake and teach him to rebound and block shots better.

Well look at what ewing has done with yao.

Yao is aggressive and was taught by a hall of fame center.
