Okay, since Iggy's aren't hard to find. Say he is gone from the team. You think Philly has a legit bright future? They are not gonna do much this season. They won't do it after Brand expires and Dre expires. They'll have Willie Green, Louis Williams, and Thad as the young guys, but none of them yell franchise right now. Iggy may not be the traditional #1 guy, but he is the best that Philly has at this point. And that's what I said. He knows that, and is forcing Philly's hand. If they don't give him the money, he'll accept the qualifying offer and bolting for nothing next year, because someone else will surely pay him (look at rashard lewis)...
hes gonna be making WAY less than Rashard Lewis obviously too, so giving him 12.5 a year isn't that bad. Brand doesn't expire for 5 years, and by then we'd have 5 draft picks. We also have Jason Smith and Marreese Speights as young talent for the future, but that's beside the point. We need Iggy for success both now and in the future, and anything shy of him asking for like 15 a year we gotta get the deal done.

I said there are other teams that will pay him, like Orlando paid for Rashard Lewis. I was just pointing out that teams will pay Iggy what he wants. Also, all the guys mentioned previously are all roleplayers. None of them are "stars." I think Thad Young has that potential, but Iggy is further in the process. Also with Brand, as he ages, Philly will always be just making the playoffs and getting low picks, so drafting a star makes it that much more difficult. But from now and 5 years is a long time, I am just saying though, if they don't sign Iggy, it's going to a mistake and this will further the mediocrity or the just get in playoffs and not do anything...

I think we can all relax a bit knowing that it's in good hands. Look at what Ed has done so far this offseason. He has already stated that resigning Lou and Andre are imperatives, so we can trust the guy to get it done in a way that will work for everyone. Iggy isn't leaving Philly.
Sixers offered him 5yrs $57mil and he turned it down. Alot of people (his peers) in the NBA said he was STUPID to turn it down. Even AI said "You take that money and run. Bad move on his part. Thats alot of money to walk away from". So tell me what YEAR/SEASON could they have signed Iggy to less? Damn sure wasnt last offseason (the season prior to offseason is when Iggy showcased his talent and Billy threw that $$$ at him similar to Dalembert who got 6yrs $60mil for his playoff performance).
Iggy is entering his 5th season. So 4 NBA seasons under his belt. 2 where he produced and after the first productive year is when he turned down millions. So "few years ago" you mean after his 2nd year? Let us Sixers fans know what you're babbling about.
He wanted around 65 mill now he's asking for 70plus

what the problem....
How is $65mil cheaper than $75mil when you factor out years? Iggy never asked for $65mil over 6yrs. He asked for $65mil over 5 years. Sixers never could have had him for cheap.

You could of locked him up years ago and you wouldn't be in this mess and risking losing him.....
Now he's older! the contract is going get is going to go past his prime and your still going to have to overpay to keep him.
It backfired, you're locked into him, although he's not the best player... the team is built off him. His market value is high and he and his agent are in pole position to dictate. He's gonna get what he wants no matter what.
They shoulda pony'd up the money when they had a chance.
Now either pay'em or sign and trade him and risk bringing in someone who doesn't fit what you already have.

Sixers wont lose Iggy. At worst they will overpay him.

24? 5-6yr deal = 29/30 at best. Nice try.
He's only been in the NBA 4yrs. First 2 seasons he was a role player. Didnt do anything for a GM to throw him a long term deal. 3rd season is when AI was traded, Webber got bought out and Iggy took over. It was then Billy King after the season said...lets talk deal. Iggy put out what he wanted. Sixers put out what they were willing to give. Iggy turned it down (many said he was stupid). 4th season rolls around...he plays it out, bombs first round and here we are. Trying to work out a deal. Ed wants Iggy and stated this for awhile. Iggy reportedly wants 6yrs $75mil so that is where we are at.
You keep acting like Sixers should have locked Iggy up years ago where there is no "years ago" here. Not for a guy who only has 4yrs under his belt. What is years ago? When he finished his rookie season or sophmore season?
I dont understand why you act like there was a cheaper deal to lock Iggy into. No such deal existed. He wants max, near max money. He could only call for that after his 3rd NBA season which happened a season before last.
Smarten up...you're not making sense. Sign and trade? The homie Posterized broke down that idea. Iggy will be resigned. And some fans might not like what he recieves but so be it. You can only hope he plays up to his deal. Typically a prime career is around 27-29 so who knows. Iggy had he gone to college for 4yrs would have completed his 2nd NBA season today. Thats young no matter how you slice it.
why is his worth based off overpaid and underpaid players? is how the system works? if it is then that's kinda ****ty
how about this then...some1 who averaged 20 5 and 5 with 2 steals only deserves ten million dollars? no duh, every player in the NBA is overpaid just to play basketball, but on NBA terms, getting him at 10 would be a complete and utter bargain, and he would never sign for that
