Default Motor racing games

I'm a huge motorsport fan, so just wondering what are your favourites?

As I'm a pretty hardcore motorsports fan and a fairly hardcore gamer, I tend to go for the simulation racing games rather than the arcade like games.

I'm a big fan of the Grand Prix series from Geoff Crammond for the PC. I know there hasn't been a game since 2001, but mods of the new drivers/teams/circuits are uploaded and updated very regularly. I don't actually own Grand Prix 4 but have played demos and absolutely love it. It's not currently on sale because it was released 7 years ago but I'm hunting around for a cheap copy and will hopefully get one soon.

A decent video showing the game with 2007 updated cars/teams/circuits: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=rG2YzbnvMJI

Not bad for a 6 year old game.

Also I'm considering buying another PC game called 'rfactor'. It's not an officially licenced racing game, but it has loads of different car series like Formula One, Touring Cars, karting and many more. Again you can get Mods to download.

Amazing graphics: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Nr5zu4bE3jw

I play Gran Turismo… that is all.

I like its blend of simulation and arcade style game play and it has alot of depth.

Only other game I enjoy playing is Out Run which is pure arcade style game play.

I am patiently waiting for Gran Turismo 5 (full game).

I play Turismo. Already beat the GT5 demo, waiting on the full version.

Personally, I've never played a better racing game.

I did play Tokyo Extreme Racer for a long a$$ time, and some of the NFS's are good arcade style games.

I have played other games such as the first Shotoku Battle on Dreamcast (aka Tokyo Extream racer) and Metropolis Street Racer and the sequal Project Gotham Racing. Shotoku Battle was decent and fun and the Kudos system in MSR/PGR is neat, but when it comes to Gran Turismo, its like Porsche… 'There is no substitute'

and I played Forza and… hated it.
