Default Greece beats USA in WBC

Led by Vassilis Spanoulis (22 points), Greece beat USA 101-95. USA played better altogether but had poor performances by LeBron James and Chris Paul. Best performance was by Carmelo Anthony with 27 points. Greece will play Spain (Garbajosa & Calderon) in the Championship game. USA will play fr Bronze against the team that beat them out at the last WBC, Argentina.

I thought the USA had a good shot at winning it all but I can't say I am shocked either that they did not make the finals.

They could not adjust their defense to defend the pick n roll that supposedly killed the Americans. Simple play but difficult to defend consistently. That's the play that helped make Stockton and Malone future Hall of Famers.

Why didn't Coach K try a zone after getting burned so many times on the pick n roll?

Maybe the international game is just too different for an all-NBA team to get accustom to. And it does not help either that internationally players are getting better as well.

First Greece beats Portugal for the World Cup, now they beat the US, I'm not too overly surprised though, team USA is over rated

Most of the European teams base their game simply on fundamentals. Doing the little things makes you win. Team USA was overrated and were not a team because they didnt have much time to play together. Some players are more concerned with a 360 dunk than making a good pass or running a play properly. They are better teams in the world and this tournament just proves it.

USA beat Argentina 96-81 for bronze. USA was led by Wade's 32 and James 22. Argentina was led by Scola's 19 and Nocioni's 18. This game was an easy defeat for USA. Now the question is, will Spain win without Gasol?

My prediction is Yes. In fact you won't even be close.
