Starting Five
PG- Jason Kidd
SG- Kobe Bryant
SF- Lebron James
PF- Carmelo Anthony
C-Dwight Howard
that starting five so far has been terrible. Everytime all five are on the floor there is absolutely no chemistry. All ballhogging, chucking, trying to establish one's self (no one wants to pass it to kidd for an open shot, although can't really blame them). Absolutely no bigman skill, just big old Dwight Howard picking up all the trash. Why the hell isn't Chris Bosh starting? I had my doubts about his international game before the tournament, but he's been USA's top big at both ends. we start to look a whole lot better when mixing it up, rather then having a starting five of, me-first, chucking, NBA superstar swingmen. Anyone agree?
and before anyone says it, I acknowledge this wasn't todays starting five against Angola, but of coarse that was Angola.
I really like that, Kobe and Carmelo for some serious firepower off the bench. Howard/Bosh/Boozer/Prince can handle the frontcourt duties. I like it alot
Maybe start Deron/Wade/LeBron/Bosh/Howard? Thing with starting Bosh is little depth of bigs.
I like that combination, and let Kobe Bryant be the 6th man of Team USA just like in the old days, when he was the backup SG for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Yeah Bosh deserves to start, but because we need him and Howard are the only 2 guys the can play center on this team, one of them has the start and the other has to be the backup. Personally I think Howard is a better fit as a starter for the team with his defense, and even though Bosh should be starting over Melo, because of the needs of the team he can't.
they can't bench kobe and melo.
they're both "God's gift" to the USA team.
kobe and melo both chuck but because of there ego's if they got benched all they'd do is ***** and moan and just make the team a piece o' ****.

That pretty much sums up my thoughts on the matter. If Chandler was with the team, then Bosh might be able to start, but as it stands, it probably can't happen.

yeah, but then all the primadonnas (spec. kobe and melo) will pout and cry.
they def need to remove kidd from the starting lineup and make him the 3rd string, special situation pg. dude has looked bad out there, even his passes look ****ty (I havent seen the angola game yet, but I doubt anything changed).
kidd brings the leadership though, and a presence u can tell when he's on the floor.
he only plays 5 minutes and he's good 2 start off, kidd is good where he is at, plus deron is great off the bench great energy.
do u really want deron to start?
i mean deron would be tired when he gets onto the bench and bring on kidd, who's old and alot slower, i wonder what the defense will do 2 him then?
leave kidd where he is he's good at what he's doing.
Prince definitely needs more time. He can shoot the three, defend, and drive/handle the ball.
Also, why is Kobe basically the designated shooter? Zero of eight from beyond the arc is not acceptable, and his last game was no better. Redd/Deron/Prince are players I'd rather see firing away.
i like how mike.k has been coaching, its very different to 04 where in 04 they didn't play the youngsters much and kept AI on the floor he's playing chris paul and deron williams alot more.
starting off with kidd is great. then bring on both pg's is even better.
next olympics, they'll have these 2 players and then they'll bring another center along.

there arent any young players on the team this year. paul and williams are both 3 years in. melo bron wade were rookies if I remember correctly.
i still say Jason Kidd is the most overrated player of his generation. Yeah he's creative, exciting, great rebounding, touch defensively, and passionate. However he's never been able to create much offense for himself and has always been a terrible shooter, 41% career , that's unheard of for a HOFer and suppose top 5 PG of all-time. People get to caught up with the triple doubles, and ignore his true impact on a game.
Plus at 36, you can take away his once assets of defense and creativity(with both CP3 and Deron on the team). Kidd's status on this team is another example of the effect of leadership being overrated, he's definitely a liability no matter how you look at it
I get that having some bona fide 3 point shooters would be a great thing. But I don't understand how the vast majority of this roster shouldn't be consistent from 20'6". It just doesn't make any sense to me, that's a top of the key jumper.
