Default Official: Michael Finley re-signs

Quote:
ESPN is reporting that even though a few top contenders were interested in signing him, Michael Finley has elected to re-sign with the San Antonio Spurs.

NBA front-office sources are reporting that Finley and the Spurs have reached terms on a new deal that has been submitted for league approval.

The news comes hours after it was revealed that Jannero Pargo, who the Spurs had been courting for some time, has decided to play in Russia next season, although it is not known whether Finley's deal was in limbo due to that development.

The Spurs, and Gregg Popovich had said that they wanted Finley back earlier this summer, but there had been little said since.

Contract specifics were not immediately available, but sources say Finley's decision came down to a choice between staying with the Spurs or joining the Boston Celtics as the reigning champs' replacement for James Posey, who signed with the New Orleans Hornets earlier this summer. The two-time All-Star also drew strong interest from the Hornets and Cleveland Cavaliers.

From SpursReport.

Good to have you back Fin.

Good re-signing, Finley will have less responsibilities next year, as he's now our third-string shooting guard and small forward. He's shown that he can still be a solid contributor, but injecting some youth in the team needed to be done, and hopefully now he can give the best of his ability in limited time coming off the bench. I still think he can get some significant playing time due to our versatility, and he's still got enough left in the tank to contribute as a solid role player. Look for him to be this year's Brent Barry for us.
