2k doses not have it and live dose!!! That is what I have seen I had both live06 and 2k6 on ps2 and the one thing I liked better about the EA one is the dynasty mode that 2k was lacking
This dude actually owned the game, but couldn't find the franchise mode... It's not like there are 100 different modes that it's buried in there with.

(no disrespect but)

That is the one thing that I think live has on 2k.

Meaning I think live has 2k beat on the dynasty mode front.

That is what I have seen I had both live06 and 2k6 on ps2 and the one thing I liked better about the EA one is the dynasty mode that 2k was lacking but if 2k adds it or something comparable I will get 2k over live no question since I just got the xbox360 and the graphics are sick.

I think I'm going to copp a 360 this week in order to get 2k7. the only problem I have, is ... can you edit player gear. they gave people these wierd ass skinny wristbands, that I barely ever seen worn. Kobe has a thick one on his bicep, and the one in the game is like the size of a rubberband. A nitpick? Of course. But if this is supposed to be the GOAT of NBA bball games, and they got all the minor details that make it feel realistic on a PS2, why couldn't they on a next gen system?

Da KO King
09-23-2006, 06:32 AM
You people really should do you homework before buying a system just for one game. While 360 is a great system and I'm confident the 2K7 made for it will be a great game the XBox version of the game gets more in depth support than any other version.

For about two or three years running now a internet user calling himself Flying Finn has been making a roster/franchise file editor. It allows in depth edits which not only fix certain gameplay issues but also explains other ones.

For those with the original XBox thinking of buying a 360 solely for 2K7 I'd advise you to hold off. Wait until Flying Finn announces whether or not he'll crack this year's game and make an editor.

You can edit everything about each player from ratings to position to gear...

Mamba, go play with barbies or something.

Hippos, the 360 has features that the regular xbox doesn't have. All the signature animations (that this thread is about) didn't make it to the last gen version. Not only that, but anybody who wants to can edit their rosters. You don't need to wait for a download.

Not only that, but anybody who wants to can edit their rosters. You don't need to wait for a download. You are talking in game editor which is nice but doesn't go into the depth of the roster editor.

The program has Universal Position Edit, meaning a Point Guard can be set to have a maximum strength of 65 while Centers are set to have a maximum speed of 70, etc.

It also allows the editing of the hidden ratings that Visual Concepts used: Dunk Range, Dunk Standing, Shoot vs Pass, Offensive Clutch, Defensive Clutch, and Overall Defense.

It also allows the edit of jersey numbers, spoken name, and other player information.

So for example, if like last season a major trade happens after the roster cutoff (Ed Curry) you can manually make the trade and give the player their correct jersey number. Another example, lets say Grant Hill announces his retirement but Tyrone Hill announces he's coming back. Just edit Grant's information into Tyrone's and leave the Play By Play name as Hill. You now have Tyrone Hill in the game with correct information and didn't need to use a Create a Player spot to do it.

So you'd rather have Tryone Hill's name correctly spoken by the announcer than have unique animations for every other player in the game?
You are missing the key point but yes.

The in-depth edits allow me to create the closest simulation of on-court NBA basketball I've played since NBA Inside Drive. Plus the rosters are always up to date.

While the animations are nice after a few games you start to not care about them anymore. I'm sure the thousands of animations put in the XBox version will satisfy me just fine.

incxpinoy

This might be the best basketball simulation EVER. If I didnt have a 360 already I'd probably buy one just for this game. Its that serious.

adamcz
09-23-2006, 10:53 AM
I can tell that both of us are interested in having the players play just like they play in real life; I just don't understand how the 360 will fail to provide that. I can edit every player's abilities and tendancies on the 360 - in the demo, all the players already play like themselves. Shaq pounds the ball inside, Dirk hovers at the top of the key, Wade does everything except shooting 3's... Plus they move like they're supposed to. You have to time your shots differently with each player, because their shot animations are different.

The xbox has inferior graphics and animations, fewer gameplay modes, less post moves, and all I've heard to offset that is that there is a hack available that allows it to say the name "Hill" for Tyrone Hill, and allow you to edit dunk distance.

What if somebody releases the "Hill" hack for the 360? Will you upgrade?

At least the xbox version is cheaper; that's got to be nice.

konex
09-23-2006, 11:00 AM
What if somebody releases the "Hill" hack for the 360? Will you upgrade?

The "hack" is just using an action replay with the edited files. It'd be on 360 but there's no point since those games are still being supported with roster updates

The only game worth going to all that trouble for is NFL 2K5. And Madden 07 is pretty decent anyways...

adamcz

When I posterize Konex repeatedly with Ersan Ilyasova, it'll be nice to be able to send the replay to everybody else I know.

Da KO King
09-23-2006, 11:26 AM
I'm sure the "star" players play like themselves. Individually.

I'm more concern with the 10 men on court as a whole playing "the right way". What good is Shaq's ability to pound the ball if the AI teammates don't move out his way? What good is Tim Duncan's post game if Tony Parker keeps shooting?

I want the most accurate depiction of NBA basketball I can get. Up to this point I've needed a roster edit program to get it.

Mamba, go play with barbies or something.
Look at my man who thinks he is on his way to being a billionaire, catching feelings over a glaring flaw in the game. hahaha

They get authentic player accessories in the current gen, but can't do it on a 360? Something isn't right. It's little things like that, that set a game off, and make it even more realistic. Let's not go into how they got the body structure of NBA players on 2k7 all wrong, and how certain players don't even look like themselves (Is Gilbert Arenas, Elton Brand's long lost twin brother?)... Don't tout it as the GOAT Bball video game, when it still needs to step its game up in certain areas. For as good as the superstar specific mo-cap is. 2k has always had some awkward looking movements. They release the ball too early, and their shoulders and upperbody are always slouched down like monkeys. It looks really weird, and un-natural. Their hands at times, even in this clips are hovering with the ball, instead of actually touching it. We'll see how it is in person, and it does look good enough to get a 360 for, but it still needs work in places.

If you don't want to hear that, go trade your pretend stocks, and stack up the monopoly money you wish was real.

You can not judge the overall authenticity of a sports game on its demo.

You only experiencing the game in a controlled setting. Once you get the full version the story is always different.

Another Take from Jon Robinson
One of the best basketball games ever made, NBA 2K7 captures the sport and its stars in a way that hasn’t been achieved in past attempts. You’ve heard about the signature shots, but it’s not just the way they captured King James and Melo, it’s how they captured guys like Sarunas Jasikevicius that amazes me. I think the bigger fan you are of the NBA and its players, the more you’ll appreciate the fine touches like the way the teams rotate for help defense or how your star might flop while trying to draw a foul, even grabbing his face when it looks like he got swiped across the eyes. Association, 24/7, streetball, V.I.P., team-based tendencies, there is just so much to this game that is not only done right, but done above and beyond what any other sports game is offering right now, this is my early pick for Sports Game of the Year."

Ive decided that I hate 2k6. I think it straight up sucks. the game is retarded. all you do is pick and roll EVERY SINGLE POSSESSION. unless youre picking and rolling, you're either turning it over or missing. wide open jumpers are missed and its impossible to set up a jumper game because closing speeds are ridiculous, you're never open. post game is effective but dumb, you just give it to your guy and force yourself toward the hoop and hit shot button. the shotstick is the most retarded thing in world history. it sounded like such a great idea but it has no practical application; it just makes jumpshooting harder and X gives you the same layup/dunk that it will. the free throw shooting is inferior to Live. you have to figure out what your players shooting form is like because unless you have it memorized you're going to miss. jumpshooting forms are horribly awkward. basically every single point you score is going to be 8 feet from the basket or less. and EVERY PASS is a turnover unless its a lead pass on a pick and roll.

I hope 2k7 is a lot different from college hoops 2k6. either that or college hoops plays pretty differently from NBA 2k6. because its a totally stupid game. both it and Live are extremely easy to abuse, but at least in Live you can choose to play a certain way and have a fair game. I dont know of any sliders that can change the fact that its impossible to win without using the pick and roll and impossible to lose if you do.

GeeWiz, didn't you buy an xbox 360? You can download the 2k7 demo for free and find out yourself what it's like. Good jump shooters will knock down open shots all day long. In the 4 minute demo, I can get 10 points with Dirk, Terry, or Williams on command (if that's what I focus on doing). Do yourself a favor and try it out.

Wow you must suck at actual basketball games.

You seriously think the shotstick is stupid? I guess your one little button for shoot in NBA Live that yields a crappy canned animation is better? Wow:roll:

Your passes get picked off because you are too impatient to wait until the recipient is in position, compared to NBA live when balls can magically go through and around opponents hands and then get sucked into the hands of your teammate? Yea:roll:

The highly creative and realistic post game in 2k6 is somehow inferior to the one in Live, oh wait...live doesn't even have a post game :banghead:
