Sherdog's top 5 HWs will look like:

1. Fedor
2. Barnett
3. Lesnar
4. Nog
5. Couture

To me, the rankings become fuzzy after Barnett.

He was pulled aside in his dressing room by Dana White for a private discussion, White was pissed at his post-fight antics (mentioned that it was like the WWE and that wasn't what he had built with the UFC), anyways, Brock apologized at the event press conference and had a bud light beer in hand, said he will drink any beer.

It's not boxing, it's mixed martial arts. Lighten up on the dumb comments too, they're starting to sprout up already.

Other than that, Dana couldn't care less what Brock has to say or who he says it to. That was the ONLY reason. $$$$

You were talking about the fans. Had nothing to do with them.

The real HW bout is on October 24. Velasquez vs. Carwin. The winner will destroy Brock. (I'm counting on you Carwin).

i actually respect lesnar a bit more now after his apology. it sounded real, not just bs his publicist wrote like you hear from some athletes. he gave some insight into his mindset at the time how he we was still doing some showmanship from wwe days and gave some respect to Mir.

You were talking about the fans. Had nothing to do with them.

“Straight WWE,” said a stunned Dana White, the president of the UFC. “Brock went so far over the top tonight I can’t even describe it. I don’t think in the history of the UFC we’ve ever done anything like that.”

Postfight, White pushed his way into Lesnar’s crowded locker room and took the big guy into the bathroom for a private “discussion.” Lesnar himself described it as “a whip-the-dog session.”

“With women in here you don’t want to know what I said,” White said. It worked, Brock showed up at the press conference smiling, supposedly contrite and even drinking a Bud Light.

“What he’s doing out there tonight is not real,” White said. “You don’t have to act like something you’re not. This isn’t the WWE. I don’t ask these guys to act crazy so we get more pay per views. That’s not the business I’m in.”

In the meantime, the cementing of Lesnar’s reputation as the promotion’s most hated man is done.

“Brock hasn’t made himself very loveable,” White said. “They hate Brock.” For the UFC, a classic villain is business gold. He’s the ultimate leading man for the organization. Some loathe him. Some love him. No one can ignore him. For those seeking his comeuppance however, there isn’t a WWE storyline that can be written to stop him.

Lost in the antics was Lesnar’s performance, a brilliant effort that showed both his growth as a mixed martial artist and the immense potential. The question becomes, who the heck can tame this mountain of a man from the Minnesota woods?
dana tore into him

The greatest beneficiary of each Lesnar snarl, however, lives in Stary Oskol, Russia, a man named Fedor Emelianenko who is considered the No. 1 heavyweight (if not pound-for-pound fighter) in the world. If anyone has the knockout power to stop the 6-3, 265-pound Lesnar, it’s Emelianenko.

Fedor doesn’t fight in the UFC though. He’s with its rival promotion, Affliction. He’ll fight Aug. 1 in Anaheim, Calif., in what is the last match of his contract. Affliction is hoping to re-sign him until 2012, but the UFC will come hard after him. More now then ever. And that means money, big money.

“Eventually Fedor is going to be here,” White said. “I want Fedor. We’ll end up getting that deal done and then we’ll do Brock vs. Fedor and we’ll do a huge fight.”

Time will tell, but the pressure to sign the elusive Russian has been ratcheted up. A villain was born and there isn’t an obvious superhero in sight. The UFC brought Brock Lesnar over from the WWE for just this kind of a sensation. And the big man has delivered – the good, the bad and the embarrassing.

Only Dana White has no scriptwriters that can contain him.

Man i really wanna see this fedor/lesnar fight

Bones vs. O'Brien

I'm not a big MMA follower but people always talk about how elite the UFC fighters are compared to other US MMA organizations but I watch a fight like that and I don't get it. I have a hard time believing those two are that much better than some of those Showtime Elite XC guys.

Are u kidding me Bones is a great athlete, very exciting fighter, and he's really young too, he's definitely up and coming

He's amazingly versatile, nice choke at the end, great kicks, spinning elbows, a lil bit of everything

Lesnar's apology.

http://sports.yahoo.com/video/player/mma/UFC/14458660

-Lesnar will end up the 'Shaq' of MMA. Yeah i think he'll beat Fedor. Fedor has been physically dominated and won like Mir beat Lesnar the first time(Hong Man Choi). But if Lesnar plays it safe like he did against Mir, Fedor has no chance of physically outmatching Lesnar. Its the sad reality of RL fighting, the bigger and stronger guy can end up the best even if he has way less 'skills' than everyone else. Just like Shaq, way bigger than everyone in his prime but couldn't even hit a J and free throws while phsycially dominating everyone.

-Dana White is the best President/Commissioner/etc. of any pro sport. I don't care what his haters say, he talks with more passion for fighting and in a common sense way. He's blunt most of the time. Its cool to hear him say Fedor is coming...definitively. Thats the UFC prez, can't get anymore a sure things than that :applause: Also i don't blame him for not giving in before since the HW's up until now were all kind of old and not the best of competition for Fedor. With Lesnar dominating this is the perfect scenario to bring Fedor over.

Anyways i don't even think Dana tore into Lesnar than him talking sense. I think it sucks if Dana told Brock not to give the finger to the crowd or talk ****, be a dick, etc., i liked how Brock wanted to play the trash talking bad guy of UFC. Added drama would be great if its real, and there are already too many 'nice guys' in the UFC.

Both fighters are young, up and coming LHW prospects. They're game isn't polished up yet but their future looks promising. Atleast for Jones

The UFC doesn't have all the elite fighters, they just have the most. There's plenty of guys outside the UFC that are better than O'Brien, but I'm not sure how many are better than Bones, though. Off the top of my head, maybe 5. EliteXC isn't around anymore, it's Strikeforce that's on Showtime.

never? lmao why would Kimbo get a title shot he'll prob be eliminated in first round of the TUF 10 show and never be on UFC stuff again

from here hopefully it goes

Lesnar vs. Velaquez/Carwin

then

Lesnar vs. Fedor

No way Kimbo wins TUF.

Big Country is part of the cast... and only a serious upset is going to stop him from winning it.

Of course, it is MMA...

Man Props to brock, but guys a douche I hope someone can KOTFO out of him, serious bad attitude. Problem is he's such a stylistic nightmare for anyone, only heavyweights I can see going against him are Fedor and Alexander Emelianenko. And maybe a strong puncher like Carwin or Brett Rogers. But if he can take any of them down arghh.

Okay did anyone else see a interview with Lesnar where he was talking about how he had no respect for any of his opponents he ever fights, and thats the way he's always been? I KNOW i saw this somewhere but can't remember where. If you could link the clip that'd be great, if not just verify that you saw/heard this since i know its not my imagination thanks.

What he really means is that he can't respect his opponents because he won't fight as well if he does. He has to no regard for them or what they've done so he can fight more effectively. Now, I'm fairly sure that he really doesn't have a whole lot of respect for his opponents, but I do know that he didn't mean "I have no respect for my opponents" to mean he just doesn't respect people. It was more of a psych thing.

Kinda like how a basketball player maybe doesn't want to respect a great shot blockers ability because it will inhibit the way they come in the lane on them.

Jackass18

He didn't have much respect for BJJ before he fought Mir the first time. I don't remember the quotes, but I got the feeling that he thought he couldn't be subbed. He's cocky, arrogant, has a pretty big ego and I think that will eventually be his downfall. That and his sloppyass striking.

PistolPete
07-13-2009, 11:44 PM
The problem right now is that once Lesnar gets you on the ground, you may never get the chance to get up again. Lesnar needs to get caught on the chin or in some kind of submission due to his mistake to lose a fight. I just don't see a worthy opponent in the near future.

MarloStanfield
07-14-2009, 12:47 AM
Lesnar's size/strength completely negated all of Mir's technique. Some of the most impressive ground and pound I've ever seen. Having the power to finish a fight from half guard against someone with a great bottom game as good as Mir's is scary. If you watch both fights you see how much more comfortable Lesnar is the second time around. He's going to be hard to beat.

It's going take someone with really polished stand up who is elusive enough to keep the fight standing. Someone like Lyoto will have a chance. No heavyweight in the UFC really stands a chance outside of Carwin or Velasquez. Cigano has looked impressive but doesn't have the wrestling pedigree.

Zombles

^^ He has been caught on the chin
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k128/Zombles/2pytc2g.gif

The elbow-knee-knee combo rung Brock's bell but didn't do any real damage and Randy landed some solid overhand rights that cut him open but not much else. With a head like a boulder it's gonna take some serious firepower to rock Brock.

Carwin is the guy in the UFC who can beat Lesnar. He hits like a freight train, has real concussive knockout power unlike Herring/Mir/Randy, and won an NCAA wrestling championship + 2 runner-ups in Division II. He isn't as athletic as Lesnar but his size will come closest to neutralizing the strength disparity.

11 straight first-round stoppages sure looks nice too.

MarloStanfield
07-14-2009, 01:01 AM
Also note that Brock is tailor made for fighting in a cage. I think he'd have an edge on basically anyone inside a cage outside of Fedor and maybe Barnett. It'd be more difficult for Lesnar to control someone inside a ring.

All of these Brock haters are delusional. Dude is the real f*cking deal. Granted I wasn't rooting for him but it's obvious he plays quite the heel and I've seen way worse post fight antics.

I've tried numerous times to get into MMA, but I just can't seem to come around to it. Sure the knockouts are awesome, and some of the other **** is amazing. But I can't stand that ground and pound bull****. I mean sometimes its just WAY to much laying on each other. Maybe its just because I'm used to boxing, but that stuff just drives me crazy.

I think I'll stick with boxing for now.
