View Full Version : LeBron vs Durant at age 21-Was LeBron really superior?

I guess that explains why the Thunder's second unit+Durant was even better than their first unit last year.
cause Durant made Westbrook worse. Westbrook is a significantly better player this year, and really bloomed when he was playing w/out Durant.. Shits not rocket science.
Do you think a Lebron/Westbrook unit would be worse than a Lebron/second unit group? Hell no. Lebron would make Westbrook a better player. It would be a two-way beneficial street. That's not how it is w/ Durant/Westbrook.
Listen, I like Durant. I think he may very well end up being one of the premiere scorers in league history, and have hopes that he passes Kobe one day. I think of OKC can pick up a all-star big, they could win many many rings... But he is not Lebron James. He doesn't affect the game in the same way. He doesn't carry his team or make his teammates better in the same fashion.

Go look at when I mention Durant/bring him into a thread. It's just to piss people off, which is remarkably effective.
Naw... No way... You can't be that good of a troll..

Well I wasn't an active forum guy so I don't know. But just by the thread bumps and randomly roaming hundreds of pages back, Lakers fans still dominated the board. Always have seems like it. So I don't see your point. And I don't see how it's relevant.

I have a question. Why do you defend LeBron?
This entire thread, and the entire Durant charade, was an elaborate trolling scheme which honestly went too far but it's all good. You on the other hands have 20,000 posts dedicated to LeBron James. Why? In case you haven't noticed, I only post things about Kevin Durant to get people riled up as I find it hilarious. I love arguing something against the grain where I legitimately have a challenge to prove a point. What you are doing on the other hand is just what the hell. There are maybe, 1000 members on this site who post actively. None of us know LeBron James nor have any impact on his life or the real world's perception of him. So why defend him?
LMFAO, you know that this bullshit isnt true.

Peak John Stockton 17.2 ppg 14.5 apg
That's an accountability of between 46.2-60.7 points or an average of 53.45 ppg
Peak Michael Jordan 48.5-56.5 points or an average of 52.5 ppg
Peak Stockton>Peak Jordan
Thats still very close in accountability, but that doesnt help much when you consider that Mike pretty much dominated everything else.
This scenario is a horrible example when talking about Durant & Lebron anyways, it definitely doesnt help your case protecting everything which Durant lacks against Lebron, so you just know.
time to destroy your entire argument of what lebron does. lebron james's starting point guard over the past 8 years has been the least productive starting PG in the entire NBA. He has averaged under 5 assists per game which is unbelievably low and honestly flat out embarrassing for a player getting 30+ mpg @ that position.
Statistically yes, but there is a perfect understandble reason for this if you watched him play, considering it was actually Lebron who was a point-forward and even started PG plenty of times, which means he shared the PG duties or even took over the PG duties sometimes.
That and a combination of Lebron always being the superiour playmaker on his team results in his PG's averaging less assists.
If doesnt matter who Lebron plays with or if he never handles the ball as a PG/point-forward, he will still rack you up assists simply because of his unselfishness, court vision, passing ability, thats his game and thats most definitely not Durants game.
kevin durant's point guards average over 8 assists per game per 36. Why is that? because they have the ball in their god damn hands since the guy who is supposed to be a small forward actually plays small forward and not point guard.
You are comparing two completely different players. Durant is a pure scorer, with a scorers mentality, a traditional scoring SF. Lebron is an all-round player, a point-forward and one of the best passers in the NBA and possess the best PG skills at that size only 2nd to Magic Johnson. Both of them got those roles based on what they are the best at in their respective teams.
Which means wherever Lebron goes he will be a point-forward. Which means if Lebron played in Durants seat, he would takeover most of the PG duties from Westbrook and Westbrook would work more like a spotup shooter or be a backup PG to a spotup shooter or be a backup PG to Lebron himself....
this is literally the worst explanation for anything in the history of explanations. i'm embarrassed for you.
Word of advice: stop posting
Once again, you need to take your insults and hints and aim them at yourself.

Blocks = Defense
It prevents the opposing team from scoring in their own basket.
So Durant > LeBron on defense? 1.0 BPG > 0.6 BPG
Does LeBron > Prince/Battier/Artest/Sefolosha on defense because he averages more blocks?

Because Lebron plays with Wade and Bosh. Lebron has better defense, better on assists + Lebron played much better in playoffs when he was Durants age.

LeBron put up worse numbers than Durant @ 22 and 23 the two times he played the NBA champions just like Durant did last season @ 21.
LeBron is the better passer, but he was in no way shape or form a better defender than Durant at 21. And scoring is a joke, @ 21 & 22 Durant scores more points on MUCH better efficiency.

LeBron and Durants scoring throughout their first 4 years were roughly even, it's really close, but Durant holds a slight edge.
LeBron and Durant both had similar FG%s, but Durant has a higher eFG%.
So yeah you can't really say LeBron's superior in the first 4 years.
They were both great, and it's really close but scoring wise Durant got the best out of LeBron.
In fact Durant might be on better pace for the scoring record.

scoring is only one part of basketball - there are other things like defense, assists, intangibles and etc., who determine the outcome of basketball games. And even as a scorer Lebron shoots better from the field for his career and is more explosive scorer when being "hot". This thread is nonsensical.

LeBron shoots better from the field because his rookie season is balanced out over 7 1/2 years instead of just 3 1/2 like Durant.
There is literally every single statistic, advanced and box score, on the 1st page. LeBron is a better passer than Durant & he possesses greater court vision. Aside from that, at the same age Durant is equal or better in just about every area.
And who cares who is the more explosive scorer when hot. How often is LeBron "hot"? Once every 5 games? What about those 4 games in between when he can't make anything outside of 10 feet
1st 4 seasons
Durant-46.3 FG%
LeBron-46.2 FG%
Durant-49.8 eFG%
LeBron-49.1 eFG%
Durant-57.6 TS%

Lebron shoots better from the field on a similar volume - FACT
Lebron has higher career PPG average - FACT
Lebron has ability to score bunches of points when his team needs him the most and to do it in most important games - FACT
Lebron is a much better passer - FACT
Lebron is a much better defender - FACT
Lebron is a much better leader - FACT

Lebron has ability to score bunches of points when his team needs him the most and to do it in most important games - FACT
This is best recognized by the number of championships he has won. BTW want to hear a fun stat? LeBron James has played in a total of 6 playoff games where his team would be eliminated if they lost. His record is 1-5. The 1 victory was all for not as they ended up losing the series anyway.
So he's 0-5 in playoff series where his team faced elimination

Lebron is a much better defender - FACT
have any support for this? since we're playing this game, kevin durant is a much better defender than dwight howard-FACT

Not really it was all based off of projections. Durant's numbers actually ended up better than I had projected in the original OP as he averaged 38 ppg the last 2 weeks of the season.
The win-loss was off by 1 1/2 games. Who cares, they gave some games away down the strech.

So there are mistakes, from which you gave Durant advantages in your tally, and you don't see the issue with projecting stats? What more needs to be said lol...:lol You claim it's just two games, but those two games are the reason you gave for putting Durant ahead of LeBron in that category. And just like the issue with this projection, there are also issues with the per 36 stats, because LeBron played significantly more than that (43 mpg). Whatever though, you'll disagree and make up some excuses. I don't really care, just don't go whining saying people troll you when you use biased evidence  .
