well i'm not sure who to take, but i figure someone needs to get the ball rolling on alternative energy sources in my country, so i'll take Steven Chu, the current Secretary of Energy in the US
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/83/Steven_Chu_official_DOE_portrait.jpg/225px-Steven_Chu_official_DOE_portrait.jpg

Chu is known for his research at Bell Labs in cooling and trapping of atoms with laser light, which won him a share of the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1997, with Claude Cohen-Tannoudji and William Daniel Phillips.[2] At the time of his appointment as Energy Secretary, he was a professor of physics and molecular and cellular biology at the University of California, Berkeley and the director of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where his research was concerned primarily with the study of biological systems at the single molecule level.[3] Previously, he had been a professor of physics at Stanford University. He is a vocal advocate for more research into alternative energy and nuclear power, arguing that a shift away from fossil fuels is essential to combating climate change.[4][5][6] For example, he has conceived of a global "glucose economy", a form of a low-carbon economy, in which glucose from tropical plants is shipped around like oil is today.[7]

I'll take one and only one from my former team...

Cesare Beccaria.

http://colaboratorio1.files.wordpress.com/2008/06/beccaria.jpg

A major figure of the Enlightenment, Beccaria revolutioned jurisprudence with his treatise "On Crimes and Punishments", that put forth the first arguments ever made against the death penalty, and condemned tortures.
He will be the head of the Council of Justice of our beloved Tsarina.

Moe Berg - Smartest guy to ever play baseball. Had he done something else, he'd probably be remembered as the smartest guy to do that. Also an accomplished spy.

Richard Francis Burton - Resident man's man / shit starter. Will most likely be used as a diplomat. In a pinch he's worth at least 500 men on the battlefield.

Sorry for the hold up guys.

I pick a truly great man and one of the dei ex machina of the growth of the Western world.

Henry J. Kaiser

Henry J. Kaiser helped invent the modern West, providing energy, roads, bridges and jobs for what would become the country's major economic engine. Among the projects he constructed or helped construct: the Los Angeles Aqueduct; the Oakland-San Francisco Bay Bridge; and the Hoover, Parker, Shasta and Grand Coulee dams. The inexpensive, quick-to-produce "Liberty Ships" built at his shipyards helped win World War II. But perhaps his greatest feat was providing his workers with health care coverage. Kaiser saw his prepaid health coverage plan as a way to temper labor unrest and leave the government out of the process, while bettering humanity. He made public campaigns haranguing fellow business leaders to follow his lead. Kaiser's vision spawned the U.S. health care industry.

Ian McHarg as my urban planner

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/e/e0/IanMcHarg.gif/150px-IanMcHarg.gif

He was admitted to the school of architecture at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design where he received professional degrees in both landscape architecture and city planning.

He was the recipient of numerous awards, including the Harvard Lifetime Achievement Award, the Pioneer Award from the American Institute of Certified Planners, and 15 medals, including the 1990 National Medal of Arts,[8] the American Society of Landscape Architects Medal, and the Thomas Jefferson Foundation Medal in Architecture from the University of Virginia [9] In 2000, he received the Japan Prize in city planning, which is presented to scientists or researchers who have made a substantial contribution to the advancement of those fields. He was also instrumental in the founding of Earth Week, and participated on task forces on environmental issues for the Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, and Carter administrations [10]

considering the vast natural resources and environment of Brazil, McHarg will be crucial in making sure we don't **** up our land while we create and expand our civilization

William Randolph Hearst

http://www.coverbrowser.com/image/time/233-1.jpg

[QUOTE]was an American newspaper magnate and leading newspaper publisher.[1] Hearst entered the publishing business in 1887, after taking control of The San Francisco Examiner from his father. Moving to New York City, he acquired The New York Journal and engaged in a bitter circulation war with Joseph Pulitzer's New York World which led to the creation of yellow journalism

William Joseph Brennan, Jr. (April 25, 1906 – July 24, 1997) was an American jurist who served as an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court from 1956 to 1990. During his term on the Supreme Court, he was known for being a leader of the judicially liberal wing of the Court.[2]
He was known for his outspoken progressive views, including opposition to the death penalty and support for abortion rights. He authored several landmark case opinions, including Baker v. Carr, establishing the "one person, one vote" principle, and New York Times v. Sullivan, which required "actual malice" in a libel suit against those deemed "public figures". Due to his ability to shape a wide variety of opinions, and due to his ability to bargain for votes in many cases, he was considered to be among the Court's most influential members. Justice Antonin Scalia has called Brennan "probably the most influential Justice of the [20th] century."[3]
On November 30, 1993, Justice Brennan was presented with the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Bill Clinton.

My other missed pick - Gerard Swope

Need him to help counterbalance all the freedom and ensure the labor force isn't trampled.

I already picked him a while ago.
i hate you ,you bastard steelers fan.

i'll take... Ian Bremmer

Ian Bremmer (born November 12, 1969) is an American political scientist specializing in US foreign policy, states in transition, and global political risk. He is the president and founder of Eurasia Group, a leading global political risk research and consulting firm. Eurasia Group provides financial, corporate, and government clients with information and insight on how political developments move markets.

Bremmer is most widely known for advances in the field of political risk and, more directly, bringing political science as a discipline to the financial markets.[3] In 2001, Bremmer created Wall Street’s first global political risk index, now the GPRI (Global Political Risk Index) —a joint venture with investment bank Citigroup. Bremmer's definition of an emerging market as "a country where politics matters at least as much as economics to the market"[4] is a standard reference in the political risk field.

Among his professional appointments, Bremmer serves on the Board of Trustees of the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs and the Advisory Board of the Westport Public Library. In 2007, he was named as a 'Young Global Leader' of the World Economic Forum, and in 2010 was appointed Chair of the Forum's Global Agenda Council for Geopolitical Risk.

Bremmer received his B.A. at Tulane University, and his M.A. and Ph.D. in political science from Stanford University in 1994. He then served on the faculty of the Hoover Institution where, at 25, he became the Institution’s youngest ever National Fellow. He has held research and faculty positions at Columbia University (where he presently teaches), the EastWest Institute, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and the World Policy Institute, where he has served as Senior Fellow since 1997.

At this point, only Abd, Dirtbag and Vapid have their last pick missing.

(I don't know why but Einstein never helps me count Abd's picks good).

If we want to finish this, I think we should post a write-up on our nation, then maybe vapid will find the time to rank the teams and run the tournament.

Jasi

To help out, I've writtend down all nations... (with a specification of roles for my own picks).

The last php must have been flawed though because according to it Gates and Von Hayek have been picked twice :confusedshrug:
So Abd, Dirtbag and Vapid are up for their last pick.

(On a side note, I'm happy to see that my former team has been plundered almost entirely :pimp: )

Following the lead of New Brazil's first leader, George Washington, my country will be a democratic republic.

George Washington
http://i.imgur.com/Az138l.jpg

What is there to say about old GW, it might be best summed up by his eulogy Henry "Light-Horse Harry" Lee

First in war, first in peace, and first in the hearts of his countrymen, he was second to none in humble and enduring scenes of private life. Pious, just, humane, temperate, and sincere; uniform, dignified, and commanding; his example was as edifying to all around him as were the effects of that example lasting...Correct throughout, vice shuddered in his presence and virtue always felt his fostering hand. The purity of his private character gave effulgence to his public virtues...

This man will be the leader of my democratic republic; epitomizing self sacrifice in the name of the nation, an at least competent military leader, he'll steer my nation in the right direction by his example and precedent.

Leonardo da Vinci and Steve Jobs

Heralded as one of the smartest men in history. Leonardo's genius wasn't limited to simply one focus; renowned as a painter, admired for his technological creativity, and blessed with a ravenous curiosity, he will be a beacon for the scientific and culture development of our nation. We have some other visionaries in this nation to help Leonardo do his thing, Jobs in conjunction with Da Vinci will drive our country to an innovative explosion; not only creating the every day conveniences that will improve our citizens happiness but will push forward our economy.
