Anyone scorer in the world would hold for the shot and shoot a 3. Allstar game and all. LeBron passes and it wasn't even a good pass.

Can't believe he wouldn't take the shot. He was unconscious from deep. Stage was set up for him to silence Skip and co (at least for a day or so).
However in saying that, this is an ALL STAR game. In the end it means nothing. Williams and Wade won't get any stick for missing. LeBron gets the ball from miles out, 2/3 defenders in front of him, and sees an open team mate. If it gets to team mate and they sink it LeBron is applauded.
Also, did anyone see who Kobe was having words with on the East bench? Was it Pierce? No love lost :lol

I wasn't talking about the set play to Deron. That is a play and it was a good look.
I'm talking about after Melo (?) saved the miss to Deron who threw it to LeBron with about 6 seconds left.
Even Kobe said after the play to shoot the damn ball. You could hear it over the TV.
And tell me you weren't expecting the guy who got that saved pass to shoot a 3. It's basketball mentatility.

You're right, dude was afraid to take that shot in a game that didn't matter. Which probably means he'd be infinitely more scared to to take that shot in a game that actually does matter. Would anyone be surprised if he tried to throw a cross court pass to Wade with 4 seconds left down 2 seconds in the FINALS?

This thread was bound to come. I guess when you see these kinds of threads for Kobe from LBJ fans you come accustomed to expect the same treatment.
Nice try..... Lebron was easily the best player of this game... that comeback assault he did was just beautiful, in Kobes face over and over and he also did set people up... the only reason Durant got the all-star mvp is because West won the game...

Lebron deserves the hate. He's an asshat.
He was so depressed because he lost an all-star game. Well, clown, you had the ball in your hands and passed up the shot to tie/win the game. TWICE.
You're the alpha. You take that shot.
But Lebron's closer mentality it weak. He's the best in the world by far when it doesn't matter. When it does he doesn't have that alpha personality.
Kobe making fun of LeBron for Linbounding the ball was pretty funny.

The numbers don't back this up at all. LeBron's 2nd only to Kobe in every stat that charts FGA in end game situations - last shots, last 2 minutes of 1 possession games, last 5 minutes with neither team up/down by more than 5. Only Kobe's taken more FGA.

Pauk, there is no saving Lebron after that last two sequences. Shooting over people is done all the time. I was rooting for LBJ but again was let down. There's much greatness being clutch at the end as is being a beast all game. The pass was a mental lapse. Anyone that calls it otherwise or tries to downplay its validly is blind.

Not nearly as bad as this especially since the only sensible thing to do with only that much time left was to shoot it and it was only an exhibition game.
And another thing, thats the line of thinking thats exactly Lebron's problem. He's scared to take the shot due to what people will say in case he misses it. Just like if he shot too much in the Finals last year and didn't defer to Wade, he would get blamed more if they lost. In the end, he actually ends up doing something worse.

Anyone hating on Lebron's play in the All-Star game is dumb as hell. Lebron is the only reason the East had any chance versus the West.
Ok so first so you say the game shouldn't be cared about then highlight how Lebron got the team in it again. Why get the team in the game again if at the end you're not going to win it and choke. Dumb excuse made a gazillion times today, next.

At the end of the day, Lebron is still a great player who will probably end his career with a few championships under his belt and an impressive resume.
That doesn't mean that him deferring in a game that DOESN'T MATTER wasn't some hilarious shit though.

It was really odd watching the game. I didn't start watching until the second half, and LeBron started going off. Then in fourth he hit some ridiculous threes and I'm like "Woot, it's a game again." And during this whole time I was watching the game I have no hate towards him, I was just kind of enjoying the game especially the last 3 minutes when they started playing defense.
Then at the very end LeBron refused to take to take the shot and threw the pass away and I literally laughed out loud so hard. Right before my eyes flashed what he was all of last year when the game mattered.

First it's him not showing up for the 4th, now it's about him not taking the last shot. He made a bad decision with the turnover and he's going to learn not to make the same mistake again. He'll be fine.

Kobe is 7 for 25 in "close playoff game" shots at the end of games....:facepalm
I suppose he gets a pass for that with his "5 rings" - :hammerhead:
As if 7 for 25 had something to do with those 5 rings.
Let's focus on this game:rolleyes:
1. Lebron was HOT (6 of 8?) from the 3pt line IN THIS GAME.
2. The shorter/older/slower/smaller etc. Kobe Bryant was guarding Lebron Beast James.
LBJ had a favorable matchup. Instead of taking a shot, he passes into traffic. This is what he is becoming known for. He does not even try to win the game:hammerhead:

Hardly the same thing...Lebron was dominant in the 4th...he didn't show up for the 4th in the Finals, not the same thing. One play isn't gonna make or break in the playoffs, it rarely comes down to that.
I seen plenty big time shots made in the 4th, whether in the last 2 minutes or the last 30 seconds that decide games when the heat is really on. These things do matter, "they are not difining a player", a "final" but they do tell something about the character of the player down the line. When you get these repeated performances then you can see a pattern. Hopefully it can end this season in the finals. Hopefully.... for now, it's what it's.

It was a broken play. I doubt in the midst of a monster comeback, the ball wildly saved to him, he looks up and see 5 seconds left, and then thinks, "It's just an allstar game". Just about every basketball player in the world would shoot after you gain control of that ball. Probably earlier in the clock than you would like because you are working purely off of adrenaline in that situation.

lebron has been poisoned by us. he's so self conscious. always thinking about how every damn shot he takes is going to affect his legacy.
these guys that gun for all star mvp are whack. it's because the media spends so much time talking about this nonsense. "is kobe the best laker of all time, "is lebron the best small forward of all time," "can durant be the best scorer of all time" blah blah blah who cares. just go out there and play to win and worry about that stuff when your career's over and all you're doing is golfing all day anyway.
this is why I gravitate toward guys like dirk, duncan, garnett, rose, melo, etc. they are not weighed down by the nonsense.
He caught the ball from way out, Kobe in his grill, along with some other dude backing him up, Wade was WIDE OPEN on that baseline and LeBron made a good decision. Blake makes a great defensive play and jumps in front of the pass. It is what it is.
Dude have you ever played basketball? He wasn't even that open, and even if he was, you don't make a cross court pass like that. Those are the most easily picked off plays in the game.

Funny how a single blunder after an MVP-caliber game...a game that would have been a blowout without Lebron's incredible play.....changes things.
If that is the only thing wrong, I'll take my chances with what Lebron does in 47 minutes....cuz the chances say, he won't be in that situation enough to make a difference in a series.
Same old story with Lebron and his supporters. No one's denying that Lebron isn't great or a HOF player. But its stuff like this that separates him from many other greats. Who would you rather take? Someone who's that great during the first 47 minutes and horrible in the last minute like Lebron? Or someone who's that great during the first 47 minutes, and just as good in the last minute like most of the top 10 players of all time? Its just an All-Star game, but it still says a lot about his character. That whole sequence gives myself and probably many other fans' more confidence that the Heat won't win it all this year once again due to the Lebron's fragile mental state.
Its so sad and pathetic that even Kobe is frustrated and trying to help the guy out with advice. Kobe, a man who's accomplishments and legacy the in the next few years could be greatly dependent on Lebron and how he performs.

Chuck had a great quote during that NBATV special with Shaq, Kenny, Kerr, Webber, etc.
The topic was clutch shots... Paraphrasing: "I was the best player on the team and I felt it was on me to win the game or take the heat if we lose"
Reggie and Webber agreed.
LeBron is the best player on the planet. I find it difficult to argue with that. But for some reason he is reluctant to deal with the potential of failure. And it sill backfires more often than not.
This is nothing new. Makes good conversation, though.
IMO, I would rather have a guy with the Kobe/MJ mentality of "My shot, win or lose" than LeBron's of "I'll try and make the best play". That is where you're blind. I recognize the effort at the end. What he did at the last two seconds was most defining yet. You clearly emphasize on his overall 4th quarter performance because of the criticism. However that performance does not make up for the mental lapse in the last seconds of the game. This. Stage was set up for him to close out the game and overshadow his rival Mr Bryant breaking MJ's All Star record. He didn't want any piece of that last shot. You'd think his confidence would have been through the roof. He couldn't miss in that 4th q.
I just gotta hope as a Miami fan that come playoffs, either LBJ dominates so much that it doesn't go to the last shot, or if it does, that D Wade takes over.
Pretty sure LeBron has proven he can hit the last shot plenty of times before. People have selective memories. LeBron having trouble in the 4th quarters is a recent development, but people love to rewrite history. If LeBron wins FMVP this year and is "clutch" enough for his haters to shut up, maybe we can talk about basketball like normal people again without all this "LOL CHOKE" "KILLA INSTINK" bullshit.

You're right. Its a recent development. He's actually had very clutch moments earlier in his career. 2007 vs. the Pistons was one of the most clutch moments I've ever seen in my life.
But WHATS YOUR POINT? His 4th quarter troubles of the last 2 years or so is a much greater indication of what he's able to do in the clutch then what he did in his first 7 years. There's clearly a mental block in his head ever since he joined Miami.

No, they'd just find other reasons to hate the guy. Same thing with Kobe. You'd think three straight finals appearances, back-to-back championships and passing Shaq in the all-time scoring list would shut people up, but no.
There will always be something with Lebron. And Kobe.

How is anyone "rewriting" history? Dude has been choking. He choked today. Bad decisions at the end of games. It is a trend he has started on his own. All he has to do is take the last shot and all this crap will go away. I am pretty certain he would have MADE that shot if he wanted to:rolleyes:

Apart from vs Bulls and Celtics in the playoffs...think alot of it is unsure wether Wade should shoot or not too....think he realises he has another top 3player so he isn't sure when to shoot or pass.

I doubt it.
There will then be a new breed for LeBron trolling going on. It will be funny, considering how much trash has been thrown LeBron's way, but with fans involved, there will never be much "basketball talk by normal people".

I don't believe that at all. He's a smart player and he almost always makes the right decisions in the first 46 minutes of games. He doesn't just turn into an idiot the last few minutes, he's just scared. And even if that were the case, he wouldn't have been that passive in the Finals. And in this case, it made absolutely no sense to make a cross court pass when there's like 4 seconds left.
Lebron's fans really need to stop complaining about the criticism. For someone as hyped as he is, he deserves most of the criticism he gets. Maybe he doesn't deserve criticism for tweeting about a dunk, but he does for stuff like this.

That is where you're blind. I recognize the effort at the end. What he did at the last two seconds was most defining yet. You clearly emphasize on his overall 4th quarter performance because of the criticism. However that performance does not make up for the mental lapse in the last seconds of the game. It's that simple. Live with it and stop complaining and drawing Kobe, MJ stat comparisons etc. This kind of thing doesn't show up on stats....Pauk and you should form the Lebron Cheerleading Team :hammerhead:

I'm a Jordan fan to the bone...but i recognize Lebron's greatness...i can understand disappearing in the 4th, that's unacceptable, but he didn't. Did he run from the moment?? Probably...I'm i gonna hold that against him? NO. Cuz he made his impression on the entire game. Not every great player in history has been cut-out for the absolute last seconds, and they shouldn't be crucified for it either....what Lebron does throughout a game makes his team's great, that is undeniable. Maybe he needs a Wade for those last second moments, i really don't care. If he plays like he did tonight for 47 minutes, that will be more than enough to secure rings, PERIOD.

Games are won in the last 2 minutes of games in the playoffs my friend. He can't run away from it forever. It would actually change a lot. Lets also not pretend that Lebron winning the NBA Finals and being clutch in the process is some sort of given anymore. His supporters have been saying this now for years, but after 8 seasons of him not getting it done, I don't see how anyone can keep pretending that its a given.

Kobe had the biggest play of the game though. Putting words in LeBrons head, was the final piece to crushing any plans James' had of taking the last shot with 1.1 seconds to go. :lol
I don't necessarily think LeBron was in the wrong for giving to Williams, considering he was open. But to be the inbounder on the last play when you basically couldn't miss in the fourth? That was unacceptable.

Regardless of the outcome of this game and Lebron's performance in it you would all still be shitting all over him for various reasons. Just substitute one for the other. Just a few posts up you have a guy saying Lebron lost the game. He was one of the only reasons the East were even staying competitive, yet this guy is putting the entire onus for the loss on him.

That's irrelevant considering they would have never been in that position if it wasn't for him in the first place. His 4th quarter play was the best on the floor. If the Heat go to the Finals with that type of Lebron, it's a guaranteed ring...let Wade take or hit the last shots if necessary, i don't care about that at all. By the way, for all the people that say he's so great in the first 46 minutes of a game that the last 2 minutes don't matter much, you can argue that maybe if he took more of a backseat to his teammates it would put them in a better rhythm so once those last 2 minutes come, his teammates that aren't afraid to take those last shots and make those decisions would be in a better rhythm to better there chances in actually making a big play. For example, maybe if it was Wade that dominated the ball and took over the game like he's clearly able to from the beginning of the 4th quarter instead of Lebron, it would've also ended up in his hands at the end and he would've made a big play. Just a thought.

no i dont think he shoots enough in close games, period. i dont care when it is, it just happened to be today it was in the final 10 seconds.
4 is not enough shots for a great player.... and hes the one that decides to shoot that little. i dislike that.

How many shots did your hero take in the second half against the Suns in the playoffs when he blew a 3-1 series lead?? CHOKE
But tonight's Lebron = RINGS no matter how you want to slice it...He doesn't need to take the last shot to be great. He just needs to play great.
He was the best player in the 4th, sure. That doesn't mean he was great. Maybe your standards are lower, I don't know. That Lebron doesn't equal rings. Boneheaded decisions like that don't win rings. You're discounting that there are so many close playoff games. It doesn't matter if the game is decided in the last second or at the last minute (where it then turns into a free throw shooting contest anyway). This is a huge reflection on who he is as a player and a leader. If he doesn't shake it off, he's not winning sh*t unless Wade saves him.

I agree about Gm7... I was very disappointed.
We were down by 20 something at that point anyways but I felt we certainly had a better chance if he came out and tried to have a 30,40 pt half instead of smush raining 3s.. ugh

Someone give me a link or a gif. I got stuck watching the oscars and the DVR cut off the ending.
I don't understand the fuss. The Kobestans think he should have shot a 28 footer on both Kobe AND KD? There was no shot to be had. Worse yet, his 4 teammates were all on the other side of the court. Tough circumstances.

What? He had Kobe on an island with 5+ seconds left. No one at all behind kobe on his right. Are you telling me he couldn't have hard drove right and gotten around Kobe or faked right, and went back left to attack right down the middle? Bron had PLENTY of space to make his move.. but he didnt want the ball in his hands.

This is ridiculous. Kobe and KD were both on him until he leaves his feet and KD goes to find his man. He would have had to pull from 28-29 feet off the dribble against a double team. I mean not even Kobe would have liked that shot.

Well I've seen it 10 times by now...
I can't believe people are excusing him for this. Yes, had he taken that shot it would've been a very tough shot. I don't think people are really denying that. But it still would've been a much better choice to make then throwing a cross court pass with 4 seconds left. Thats literally like the worst pass anyone can make. He should've at least tried to pass it to Melo. But with only that much time left, its really hard to process who to pass it to that quickly, which is why he should've shot it. He clearly just wanted that ball out of his hands.

Yea..
but oh well... he was easily the best player of the game tho.. it would have been a blowout if he didnt go nuts like he did in the 4th... Its a shame the all-star MVP has to always go on the winner side...

Eh, who cares? If he makes that gaffe in the Finals, then it's a story. Not sure why people are all of a sudden trying to find deeper meaning in a game where Dwight Howard and Andrew Bynum were jacking 3's. Seems people are just looking for any reason they can find to criticize LBJ since the ammunition's run pretty dry this year.

I think its funny. KD makes a lazy pass in the back court with 1:40 to go that DWill steals and puts it back to go down 1. Does he get killed for it? Of course not, its an all-star game. LBJ hits Wade in stride with 1 min to go to put the East ahead and Wade inexplicably bumbles it out of bounds. Big deal? Of course not, its the All-Star game. LBJ doesn't shoot a 28 footer to tie on double coverage, off the dribble? KILL 'EM.

LeBron with the Magic Johnson-esque assists.
Only you would post a gif of Wade's assist to Lebron, and title it "Lebron with the Magic Johnson-esque assists":lol
Somebody needs to post his air-ball dunks (I don't know how he does it, but he did it twice), and that "Magic-ecque" pass to Griffin in the last minute, and him standing out of bounds before the last play as Kobe was mocking him:roll:
He was exciting, that's right. But in the end, for all the wrong reasons:lol
I'm a fan of his, and I was disappointed as well. Everyone on the court (and 99% of the people on earth) didn't understand why he didn't shoot it.
It doesn't matter if there were people on him. There wasn't much time, there wasn't a good shot at that point, and realistically he's the most physically capable of taking a long, contested 3.
Look at Kobe & Melo's faces.

That stupid pass is why KD didn't deserve the all star MVP, in addition to that retarded coach basically gifting it to him while preventing other players from getting on the floor.
I'm probably the only one here who feels this way, but aside from Rose and Dwight's vanishing acts during THE ENTIRE GAME, I hated KD the most in this game. And the weird thing is I don't even have a problem with him in general, but his performance in this game just really pissed me off.

And before some retard chimes in about me being a "Kobe stan," I thought Kobe had an alright game, but he also didn't deserve the all star MVP. Looking objectively at the game, aside from that very last brain fart at the end, it should have gone to Lebron.

Because in both of those cases there was a good amount of time left, KD hasn't shown a pattern of shrinking in the clutch and he isn't nearly as hyped, and Wade has won a title before and hasn't shown a pattern of shrinking in the clutch either. Yes it was only an ASG, but the fact that he was that scared to take a shot in a meaningless exhibition says alot about his psyche. He probably would've been infinitely more scared if that was the NBA Finals.

Umm yes. Given his track record lately, just how ridiculously stupid of a pass that was to make despite being hot frome 3 all game, and the fact that he inbounded the ball the next play, yes thats what I thought.
There's no other wing player in that game that makes that pass instead of shooting it. Kobe, Melo, Durant, CP3, Rose, Westbrook, Nash, Dirk, Pierce, Love, Wade all take that shot.

Its just odd all the hate lebron is getting over that last 5 secs...he should of shot it yeah but u can see why he did try to pass and to him at the time it made sense considering who else was out there... He and wade made it close in the 4th and saved this from being a terrible weekend...he played great in the 4th and made it worth watching from a highlight standpoint.
There are times when he deserves hate but in a fun show off game this really isn't the time. For people to think he was scared to take the last shot in an all star game is hard to get my head around.
Oh well was a great game in the end and made the weekend not quite as bad.
