at this m moment in time i might go as far as to say people are underrated him....

his isnt playing that bad but people are acting like he is trash.

sure he hasn't improved this season, but the hate is getting ridiculous.

Irving this season reminds me of Robert Griffin III from this past season.

He isn't overrated. People say he needs to pass a bit more, but to who?

He needs to improve as a basketball player, as a complete player. He's letting down all of his loyal fans this season.

After Kobe of course.

Since drafting him.
Cleveland 202: 21-45(.318)
Cleveland 2013: 24-58(.292)

No improvement as a team into year 2. They actually got worse.

"But he was hurt!!!!"

Here is Clevelands record with him playing.

2012: 17-34(.333)
2013: 19-40(.322)

Alright a LITTLE better, but still only winning about 33% of the games, in otherwords still garbage.

He was hurt for almost the entirety of his college career too. This guy is just injury prone. He makes no impact defense, he requires the ball in his hands to do anything. What is so good about this guy. Doesn't effect the win totals at all. Another small ball dominant guard that doesn't make the impact to winning that Sportscenter and uneducated fans would lead you to believe.

great post. It gonna be funny as hell hearing how great Kyrie is from LBj haters this year:oldlol:

Not everyone can be fortune like Lillard and Rose, being drafted in high tier playoff teams.

Not at all. But at the same stage, he's on a path faster than LeBron's.

Kyrie is like the #2 most hated player in the NBA after Literally Hitler, so many camps out there hate him.

Extreme envy from Lillard/Wall-stans because they know deep down that Irving craps on their favorite player.

Then some sort of hate or resent rom from Rose/Westbrook/Dragic-stans.

Seems that only CP3 fans are secure about the fact that Paul is the best point guard in the league.

Kyrie was bound to get a ton of hate because of the way that everyone was fawning over him to begin his career. It's just the way it goes for professional athletes. There was a time when it wasn't popular to dislike Tom Brady but that changed quickly. People get sick of praise and adoration.

he's still so young and his skillset is already very nice.

if he can:

a) improve his intangibles and leadership
b) improve his vision and feel for the game
c) start playing defense

as he gets older, he will be a hell of a player.

He played the majority of last season as a 20-year-old and averaged 23/6/4 on 45/86/40. You're really ready to make that kind of statement?
No one should call him or not call him a franchise player right now. Love and LeBron will be on the same team and Irving will be the third wheel between those three. Franchise players usually don't become third wheels.

I doubt he cares if he already got paid 90 mil. :lol

He hasn't shown leadership ability nor any kind of ability to win consistently. However, he only played one year of college and he's young. He's a top 10 PG, but with more experience, he could enter the top 5.

He'll continue to get better, IMO.

Lillard's team was a lottery team his first year and he was a huge factor in their 1st round win...and he outperforms Kyrie h2h...

Pretty much. Great for Cleveland, and honestly probably great for Kyrie. He gets to play behind those two, still get his numbers, make deep playoff runs and potentially get championships and still young enough that he can eventually be the "guy" again.

I would have questioned Irving tho. Seemed like he really took a step back this season. He had the commercials, hype, media etc. pushing him into being an elite player but just never lived up to it and with how things went this offseason it'll be difficult to gauge going forward. Obviously he was only 21 but with how weak the East is I think the expectations to win are abit greater than usual circumstances.

You just quoted a post I made from over a year ago that I have zero recollection of making. I think its shelf-life has officially expired for any meaningful back-and-forth. :oldlol:

And, what the hell is this weird opinion forming that, because Kyrie is likely to be a "third wheel" between arguably two Top 5 players in the NBA that he's not a "franchise player"? If only guys who are better than LeBron and Love are franchise players, that leaves about 3-5 franchise players in the entire NBA.

Plus, Kyrie is still a long way from entering his prime years.

He is overrated and very overpaid. I just hope he doesn't get injured and learns how the play the game the right way...which he probably will because he will finally have a good HC and a winning team.

It's a dumb argument in both cases, but at least Love is a 24-year-old who has been in the league for five seasons. If the Cavs haven't made the playoffs three years from now, that kind of criticism may be warranted.

People underrating kyrie a lot in here.

But just to clarify, anything less than finals each year is a disappointment. Not playoffs.

Once again, that post is from over a year ago. LeBron James, Kevin Love, Mike Miller, Shawn Marion and James Jones weren't on the team yet.

We did, however, have Spencer Hawes, Anthony Bennett, Jarrett Jack and Sergie Karasev when I made that post.

So, I guess it's a wash. :confusedshrug:

I'm betting that you will see the light on the point guard position. Someday. Maybe Kyrie will be the man for the job.

RBA you're gonna love bran stans this year :oldlol:

They will shit on the whole team. I'm sure beta2nun will be pining for Mario Chalmers before long...

Oh wait, Kyrie is easily the best PG bran has played with. Unless we're bringing up Boobie Gibson who carried him past the Pistons in the game 6 closeout game.

Good luck with them in the coming years

I'm already preparing myself for the inevitable annoyance. If it gets too bad, I'll just have to avoid the Main Forum for a time. That would be pretty sad, though... not to be able to have real discussions with other fans when we have a championship-caliber team. But, I won't let them ruin the Cavaliers for me.

By any means necessary.

At his salary? I doubt it...now if he was signed to a reasonable 8-10 million per year contract I'd agree with you...but not the outrageous max contract he recieved.

A PG that is worth a max contract or close to a max contract is super rare. Even CP3, the best PG in the NBA and one of the best of all time is not worth the 20+ million a year he receives, let alone Kyrie Irving getting a max.

We need a smack game thread and a sensible discussion thread for cavs games.

So if people post shit or trolling in the sensible thread, they have no excuse and they cop a temp ban.

I think that would work, I'll only rile up the lebron idiots in the smack thread.

That would be a good idea for the main teams this year including bulls game threads.

I wouldn't ever take him on my team.

He is a worse version of Curry, with terrible game management. And unlike Curry, he over dribbles.

For as good a ball handler as Curry is, he is quite direct and all his moves have a purpose. I feel as if Kyrie is out there showboating at times for no reason.

Kyrie is by far the best guard finisher at the ring I've seen though. Ever. Right hand, left hand, doesn't matter. Insane touch and understanding.

For all the negatives, he could turn it all around by just playing smarter. In a vacuum, he isn't any less talented than Curry for example, but he is certainly a hell of a lot more selfish and dumber.
