Ligers don't even exist in nature... they don't have that fighting blood in them. So Attribute wise they're like a cheat, good stats.. but they're created through inter species breeding, humans are responsible.

The two Gorillas are actually different species. The 9 Tigers are different sub-species not species. I'm presuming species is what matters, otherwise you're right if you include sub-species then everyone can pick a tiger. Even Gorillas have 4 sub-species.

The officiating and judging system should be pretty solid. One of the contestants came up with a really good idea on how to do it, so when the draft is finished I'll put it all together and most likely create an example template so everyone gets the jist of it

Alright Bengal Tiger confirmed, Liger is back on the board

I'm going to allow multiple sub species of tigers because they have huge physical/size differences between them. They are sub species of tiger but it's almost as if they are different animals physically. Both types of Gorillas are pretty much similar and don't vary as much as the tiger sub species do so I think it's the right call.

I wouldn't say that exactly. I've seen videos of ligers play fighting with other lions and tigers. I don't know what would happen if they got serious but I doubt the liger would just bitch out like that.

The smaller end of the Gaur range is the same of around that of a higher end Polar Bear... I definitely wanted Polar Bear in the HW as it is not in the same class to Hippos/Rhinos/Elephants size wise

Just for your information guys, the matchup format will be based on ISHGoat's idea here in an earlier post... I will simplify it down and hopefully it will give us the best and most accurate way to adjudicate hypothetical strategy implemented animal fights


As the draft is well on the way, I think we should establish rules for trial.

I propose that in each trial, each poster is allowed to make two posts. First is the argument for why their team should suceed over their opponents. This is to be PMd to an arbitrator as to not allow the parties to see each others arguments. When the arb receives both arguments, he will post them here.

Then, both parties PM a "defense" post that addresses/counters the opponents arguments, once again, to be sent by PM to a third party.

So you have one chance to make a "case for" your team without seeing your opponents, then one chance to defend against your opponents first argument.

Then the judges must evaluate the outcome solely based on the four posts, with no external influences or judgements except fact verifying. Similar to a jury trial, a verdict must be made based solely on the evidence provided by the prosecution and reasonable doubts of the defense.

Further, I highly highly recommend increasing the juror count.


It depends how rigorous you want this game to be.

For example, if this were to be played in a money pool where the victor gets like $5000 I would say 12 jurors and a 10-2 verdict is required to proceed

For this, I would say 8 jurors and a 6-2 vote required, if it is not met, posters submit a third post. After a third post, simple majority is sufficient (5-3). If it is still hung (4-4), we have each of the jurors assign a score to the team and the team with the higher score after discounting the top and bottom score wins (like in gymnastics)

If you think getting 8 people to commit and be serious about this is too much, then we can go for like 6 people where 4-2 is required. I don't think numbers like 3,5,7 are good because a 4-3 or 3-2 vote will be common, and do we really want people winning because of one vote that swayed the result?

All in all, I think 6 jurors is a realistic and responsible number.

- 1 substitute
- You must always have ALL 3 weight classes in the matchup, irrelevant of substitute activity
- Strategy driven fight; meaning the animals will fight together in a cohesive unit, regardless of animal temperament/aggressiveness
- Obviously, the team that is left standing, wins. This 3v3 is a fight to the death
- There are 8 contestants, meaning 3 rounds of matchups to crown the champion
- First round is 4 matchups
- Second round is 2 matchups
- Third round is the championship matchup
- The matchups in the first two rounds are RANDOM
- The environments for the matchups in all 3 rounds are RANDOM
- The contestants in a matchup will be given a paragraph or 100 or so words to explain why their team will win the matchup, and how it will happen EG- Strategically how they will win. This first paragraph must be sent to the Arbitrator (Me) and must not be shown to your opponent.
- The Arbitrator (Me) will then post both contestants paragraphs
- The contestants will then be allowed another paragraph to counter their opponent's original paragraph argument
- The counter arguments will be sent to the Arbitrator (Me) and I will post both of them at the same time
- The Judges will then read the arguments and the counter arguments, and then they will come to a decision on who is the victor
- Obviously the arguments/counter arguments are not the only thing that determines the Judges decision. Their personal opinion is the main factor, including their knowledge on animals
- Whoever gets the majority vote from the judges, is declared the victor

Alright new rule to speed things up

- As soon as both teams have been confirmed in a matchup, you have 24 hours to send the Arbitrator (me) your initial fight strategy
- If neither send the initial strategy to the Arbitrator (me) in time, the whole defense arguments from the contestants is skipped and it is sent straight to the judges for a decision and result
- If only one sends a fight strategy to the Arbitrator (me) in the 24 hours allowed, the other contestant is not allowed any form of response or written strategy, and it is sent to the judges for a decision and result. The contestant who did send in a strategy in the 24 hours will have his strategy accounted for and it will have an effect on the judges decision
- Obviously the strategies can only go so far and the judges decision is affected much more by their own personal opinion and knowledge. What a written strategy can do is convince and provide a predictible scenario in which the fight will take placeBlackfrankwhite

ARKAIN STRATEGY
African Elephant, to stay in the middle of the peak and claim the center. This will force the opponents to the edges of the cliff. The Polar Bear and Hyena will stay close to the Elephant as it has claimed the center for the team.

Cape Buffalo while strong will not be able to gain traction on a snow peak. I can see it being an idiot and just falling off the cliff. It's a very aggressive animal which has no other attacking instincts other than running into the opponent. A hyena will be quick and agile enough to make it miss every time. Furthermore, it'll be forced to run on the edges because the elephant has claimed the center of the peak. Running in circles on the edge of a snow peak, greatly reduces the Buffalo threat.

Jaguar will do decent on a snow peak but no match for the Polar Bear. The polar bear is in it's element and will destroy the jaguar as it's almost 2-3 times larger. Jaguar is a threat to the Hyena but since the Hyena will stay close to the center and consequently the elephant, it will have great protection to let the Polar Bear or the Elephant do the killing for it. Hyena is a very smart predator and will be a smart teammate, ensuring it lures in predators to the Elephant so the Elephant can dispatch opponents without too much effort because on a snow peak the Elephant can't be asked to go on a rampage due to the altitude.

The Giraffe is no threat, it's not mobile at all, plus on the snow peak I don't see it doing anything other than trying to run away from any danger and eventually giving up. It has no predatory instincts. It may kick you if you foolishly try to kill it but the Hyena's job would just be to tire it out without getting too close.

If anything is left over, the Elephant will kill it off. No need for it go seek for the opponents. It will chill in the centre and wait for the fight to come to it and destroy them as necessary.

Well written strategy, as biased as it is helps Arkain. His team have enough muscle power to overkill the other team. Elephant beats all. Polar bear beats all but suffers a sprain. Snarky hyena is there to eat the carcassess. Jayda's team has style but is no match to the really, really heavyweight roster of Arkain. Cape buffalo is thought to be the most dangerous animal in Africa, giraffe could kick hyena into another mountain top it'd fly that far, but the elephant and polar bear duo is probably the best in this game. Fight happening in the mountaintop poses no serious adjustments and the space is confined and bigger guys win.

This is a tough matchup to judge. Arbitrary Water's team has interesting composition. Elephant can rough up the whole other team, and the cats can jump on it, sink their teeth in and bleed out the poor guys. That's how cats kill. The javan rhino wouldn't be easy to take down for them, unless the elephant steps over, but then the fighting bull is alleviated to push his own agenda in. Cheetah is a bit irrelevant here, even if his home element is savanna. Unless siberian tiger is out to chase him, he can only support a flank indirectly. This matchup is like a sledgehammer and two swords against two maces and a dagger. Open environment probably favours the first team a bit more...

Although I'm not fully positive how siberian tigers hunt - they probably stalk and ambush like tigers do and not attack pray in groups like lions, but then you see photos of them in packs:

Itare - White Rhino vs Hippo is the closest match up I've come across, but the environment being the Saharan desert would severely limit the water-accostumed hippo. The Rhino would be able to charge/flee as many times necessary in the open space, together with his speed advantage and the hippo only being able to use quickness in short bursts/heat affecting it, i give it to the Rhino.

Once the hippo is down, Itare's side would make short work of the other team.

Don't underestimate how powerful Hippos are. They can bite crocodiles in half, sink boats and kill more humans than any other animal in Africa. Not to mention Rhinos have shitty eye sight.

zoom has it right. Hippos are naturally more bloodlusted and can fck shit up more than rhinos. White Rhinos are big but lack a clutch mentality and are less aggressive than their black counterpart

A Grolar bear is perfect for the temperature on the mountain peak. Had the other guy had a Siberian Tiger he would have won. But a Black Rhino and Grolar Bear could take out the others i believe. Also Black Bears aren't very aggressive; they're actually the opposite unless they're protecting they're cubs. Therefore i went with ISH

I would give the edge to hippo, because he's more of a sonovabtch. I heard rhinos are prone to breaking down mentally and leaving the situation if it's full of mixed signals. On the other hand, it gets pissed at a clear challenge also, and they've come to fight this time. Lets look further - grizzly bear is going to tear the gorrila apart I believe. Solely because he is a hunter, and a gorrilla is a herbivore. On the other hand, I think chimp can eat mountain lion's face off - remember chimp is as strong as Wilt ever was. It's a close match right now, and it's taking place on sand. I think it's not the element of a hippo, and apes must be better at adapting to it due to their likeness to humans.

For the simplicity sake lets say rhinos goe nose-to-nose and both eventually die in the mutual struggle. The main event is the 2-on-2 fight now. I love tigers but I'll give it to the grolar bear due to its size and manipulative capabilities - they must be able to jugle a mean chair with their frontal legs, even at that high of an altitude. Now black bear would just step over the cobra to quickly double team on a grolar bear, but get bitten and die as soon as the cold-blooded cobra succumbs to the cold itself. Now it's an ass-bitten grolar bear wrestling the tiger off its throat. Tiger lives in a more pleasant jungle environment, while the bear has the endurance of two rough spiecies at one time to live and fight another day.

I think ISHGoat gets out of the round with only the limping bear left.
