Certainly a tremendous time for basketball fans. As Lebron gets old, and Curry and Durant start to fade due to their fragile bodies, we are blessed with a plethora of young future all time greats

Giannis, Luka, Trae Young, Zion. Maybe even Jokic. Ingram perhaps

As the new breed come into their own, a fresh group of youngsters looking to make their mark will come into the league

There has never been a better time to follow the NBA. The inside hoops forum upgrade is a sign of things to come. Fasten your seatbelts kids

Lol at Durant being thrown in there. Two championships won at 28 and 29 on a team that averaged 70 wins the two years before him, hasn't nudged his all-time ranking in the eyes of many. Quite the opposite, he's actually less respected than before. So what do you think KD coming back next year at 32, best case scenario 85-90% of the player he was before the Achilles injury, is going to accomplish that's going to boost him from a top 20-25 level player to top 7? Hes going to have to basically 3peat winning finals MVP dropping 28/7/5 or some shit just to get into the top 10 discussion. Good luck with that.

Giannis is trending as a top 15 player, he needs playoff success to validate the numbers hes dropping now. If he goes the next 5 years dropping 30 and 15 and wins a couple titles along the way, it will be very interesting. Could end up with 4-5 regular season MVPs, I'd say at this point he's got #2 in the bag for this season. If he does all that the top 6 or 7 isn't out of the realm. Good luck to the league if he ever becomes a remotely consistent mid-range shooter or can drop 2-3 threes at a 38% clip.

Kawhi is an interesting case. A finals MVP won when he was still basically a role player/ upcoming talent. A 2nd finals MVP won against a team ravaged by injuries. Has never played on a bad team per se so his ability to carry mediocre talent is an unknown. Still, he could end up with 3-4 rings with as many finals MVPs. Wont win a regular season MVP award because of load management. Still, easily one of the best two-way players we've seen. It's going to be interesting seeing where he lands when it's all said and done.

Durant certainly won't unless he somehow manages to pull a miracle in Brooklyn, which I very much doubt since he can't lead a team. The double standard for Leonard is so insane, I can not comprehend it. All time greats would be crucified if they sat out as much as him. I've seen people try to discredit LeBron for turning up ''only'' ~75 games a regular season. No one bats an eye when Leonard sits, no one bats an eye when Leonard throws away games. Perhaps he's not so great as people make him out to be. Furthermore, Leonard barely has more career points than Andrew Wiggins. :oldlol: Now Giannis and Doncic might be working on something, but we are yet to see them really come through in the postseason.

Kawhi IS a great player, probably BITW right now. But the expectations for him are legitimately non existent. Someone made a thread about it earlier, but could you imagine if the Cavs had won 15 in a row after LeBron left like the Raps just did. This place would crash from all the traffic. But Kawhi gets held to a completely different standard. The Clippers could lose in the 2nd round and no one would bat an eye

Exactly. Of course he's good, but he gets held to such a weird standard. All-time greats would be murdered for the things that get swept under the carpet for him. Whether it be LeBron, Kobe, or whoever. Severe tampering? Non issue. Stacking the deck with the Clippers? Non issue. Holding the Spurs hostage? Non issue. Virtually sitting out every game? Non issue. Throwing away games? Non issue. Beating a depleted, crippling Warriors team? Non issue.

He might be playing at an all-time level, but he ain't an all-time player, if that makes sense.

What do you mean nobody bats an eye? 'Load management' has been a trending media topic all season chiefly because of what he is doing, and he's been getting called out on it by several high-profile personalities.

Kawhi, for me, is clearly right now an all-time great talent with the caveat that his floor-raising ability is an unknown. We've never seen him on a team that wins 20 games without him. He may be more of the kind of player that takes you over the top if you're already good( like the Raptors) then he is the kind of player that you build a team around. He may end up manipulating his way to more championships than if he was going through the same paces we expect of other all-timers.

Furthermore, he clearly lacks the galvanizing personality of some of your all-time great leaders.
