Radio up here in Boston aren't getting up for the Sox this season, but I'm excited by the moves they've made. Despite being one of our better hitters, Rafael Devers is going to be a shit show at 3rd base. Let Alex Bregman play there, and swallow your pride and play DH. Hoping for 85-90 wins for the Sox.

The new bats should obviously be banned but it’s more a function of the short porch in right field. All left handed yankees have ate off that real good. If bonds played dh in yankee stadium would be standing at 900+ and that is being conservative. Would probably have over a thousand. Mays would beat the breaks off hank aaron if they counted negro leagues as well. Mays number one goat with barry a close second. If you try to argue against it you do not know baseball.

It's hard to compare someone like Babe Ruth or Lou Gerhig to Mays and Bonds but it's a little easier with Ted Williams, as he and May's careers overlapped by 9 years.

I think at his peak you could argue he was the better overall player and he certainly had better longevity, but Williams was absolutely the better hitter so it's really close to me. If he didn't lose 3 years of his peak to the military and didn't struggle with injuries in the middle back portion of his career he'd probably be sitting over 700 as well.

I honestly can’t say. I watched Jimmy Rollins and Pedro speak on it. They explained the advantages and disadvantages. Pedro also said pitchers should adjust to placing pitches where it hits the end of the bat vs the sweet spot. It could’ve been just bad pitching honestly. Opening days, adrenaline flowing and meat balls were sold lol

I am curious what other teams/players are using it. And seeing numbers as the same sizes increase. And bein transparent I don’t follow baseball nowadays much. So I don’t have many strong opinions when it comes MLB. I tend to read what folks who do follow it say. I used to watch it more than any sport. And we didn't score those two rungs until the 35th inning of us being scoreless.

MLB record I think is 48 consecutive innings to be scoreless.

Del La Cruz was using it the day he had 7 RBIs and two homers. Said he loves the torpedo back. I think several Reds are using it, but that speaks about them using them becuase they just had the 4th longest scoreless inning streak in franchise history.

Pete Rose has reinstated to be in the Hall of Fame after 36 years of being banned for betting on baseball. Shoeless Joe Jackson along with his teammates are reinstated. The next time Rose can be voted in according to Tim Kurkjian is in 2027 on a Classic Ballot. I believe he said 8 out of the 12 voters (Tony Perez being one of them) would have to vote Rose in for him to get in. Rose being banned is very polarizing to some former players. A former team-mate of Rose, Frank Robinson said, if Rose was voted in he would have nothing to ever do with the Hall of Fame again.

Source: https://www.cnn.com/2025/05/13/sport/pete-rose-shoeless-joe-jackson-mlb-decision-spt

When I heard about this the first person I thought about was Trevor Bauer being blackballed by the MLB owners. Mostly because I knew he'd have something negative to say about the Rose situation linking it to his own situation. Which he just doesn't get it. The MLB isn't blackballing him for his sexual allegations which he seems to be proven innocent of. It's all his past behavior that caused team's headaches.

Since my post a month ago Judge is still treading for a Triple Crown.

1st in the MLB in average .401
3rd in the MLB in homeruns 15 (1st in AL)
2nd in the MLB in RBIs 41 (1st in AL)

Unrelated to Triple Crown

1st in the MLB in hits 71
1st in the MLB in WAR
1st in the MLB in OBP
1st in the MLB in Slugging
2nd in the MLB in runs (1st in AL)
1st in the MLB in Total Bases

...as long as he doesn't get injured he'll probably end up being the MVP. Althoug Ohtani has finally started heating up the last few weeks.

Maturity is one. For whatever reason his contact rate is way way down this season. Strikes are up. He got a right oblique injury in late April and he's been out almost a month now. Then you have the issue of him getting ejected for calling balls and strikes then went promptly on social media to argue about it further and got fined. Just struggles all around mentality and physically.

I don't know about Top 5, but the Top 3 are Judge, Ohtani and Witt Jr.. Those three players can be swapped around by how well they're playing. 4 and 5 can be argued by multiple players. If Acuna Jr. is healthy he would be up there, but he just came back from being injured a whole year. Soto and Tucker should be considered as well.

For pitchers it's probably some combo of Skenes, Skubal, Webb, Brown and Yamamoto.

Absolutely amazing play. The only reason it wouldn't actually be the goat for me is that he actually took a slightly off angle initially which is why he had to reach like that.

This one:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5ZlGme4Eh8

There is literally zero room for error off the bat and on the approach. Also to have the coordination against the wall not only to make the catch but bounce and throw back accurately to try and double the runner off? It's a little higher level overall to me.

MILWAUKEE -- — Jacob Misiorowski pitched five no-hit innings before leaving his major league debut with cramping in his right calf and quadriceps as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 6-0 on Thursday night.

Misiorowski (1-0) slipped on the front part of the mound after throwing his third pitch of the sixth. After medical staff went to check on him, he was removed in favor of Nick Mears.

The 6-foot-7 right-hander finished his dominant debut with five strikeouts and four walks while reaching a maximum velocity of 102.2 mph with his fastball.

Misiorowski threw 14 pitches at least 100 mph. Coming into the game, all Brewers starters had combined for eight pitches 100 mph or more under pitch tracking that began in 2008, according to mlb.com.

You probably answered your own question. Reminds me of Trevor Bauer to a degree. He still thinks he's blackballed because of the sexual assault case(s) he got cleared of, but the real reason is he was a f*cking headache in the locker room. That's part of the reason he started vlogging and posting on YouTube. One was extra income and to push his brand, but the other was to show "Hey MLB, I'm a great locker room guy. Look at my stints in the Japanese and Mexican leagues."

Sometimes teams just don't want to deal with the drama if it's affecting the team.

Maybe locker room guy wasn't the best choice of words. The guys in the locker room loved him.

He and GM Craig Breslow didn't get along. So much so, that Rafy wouldn't even call him by name. He would just call him "the GM"

We've seen several situations before where a star player and a GM butt heads, but they don't move the player after some disagreement. There must've been more going on behind the scenes where Breslow pulled the trigger to get Rafy out of town.

Cool, they get some starting pitching and a prospect, but you can't replicate the production that Devers gave.

This is the sign that the Sox have given the keys to the young guys, Bello, Mayer, and Anthony.

The Pittsburgh Pirates and Detroit Tigers will have their aces on the mound Thursday, though apparently not in the same game.

The teams will play a doubleheader in Detroit due to a Wednesday rainout.

Unless the managers change their minds overnight, the day game will feature Tigers ace Tarik Skubal, while Pirates ace Paul Skenes will go in the nightcap

How fvckin dumb is it when you have a rare chance to have probably the 2 best pitchers in the game face off against each other (as competitors, they'd probably like that) but it's not going to happen. MLB should've reached out and ask the teams to do it. Makes zero sense not for it to happen.

Misiorowski threw 14 pitches at least 100 mph. Coming into the game, all Brewers starters had combined for eight pitches 100 mph or more under pitch tracking that began in 2008, according to mlb.com.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Jacob Misiorowski took a perfect game into the seventh inning of his second career start, Christian Yelich drove in a career-high and franchise-record eight runs, and the Milwaukee Brewers scored 16 times in the final four innings to beat the Minnesota Twins 17-6 on Friday night.

Misiorowski became the first pitcher to start his big league career with 11 consecutive hitless innings as a starter since 1900. He threw five no-hit innings against St. Louis on June 12, but left in the sixth with cramping in his right calf and quadriceps.

The 6-foot-7 right-hander struck out six with a fastball topping out at 102.1 mph and a slider and changeup in the mid-90s.

Misiorowski (2-0) walked Byron Buxton to start the seventh inning and Matt Wallner followed by lofting an 0-1 pitch into the flower bed above the right field wall. Waller's launch angle was 44 degrees.

After the homer, Misiorowski was pulled for reliever Nick Mears and left to a standing ovation from a crowd that included thousands of Brewers fans.

Yelich had bases-clearing doubles in the seventh and eighth innings and RBI singles in the sixth and ninth. He became the first player since RBIs became an official stat in 1920 to drive in at least eight runs without a homer, according to OptaSTATS.

Cal Raleigh did it again. Hit number 30 today. He's the first switch-hitter ever to reach 30 homers before the All-Star break. Only four other switch-hitters ever had 29 before the break.

Also today he became only fourth catcher ever in MLB history to have at least 30 homeruns in a three seasons for their career for a catcher joining Pizza, Bench and Campanella. Pizza did it nine times. Bench and Camp did it four times.

That makes him even more impressive. I didn't know he was a switch hitter, plays catcher and is one of the better defensive catchers in the league.

Also have to consider that he’s going this at Safeco, which is currently THE pitchers park in baseball. His home/road splits bare that out.

The man is on a tear. If he keeps this up and the Mariners slide into first and the Yankees keep struggling he could challenge Judge for MVP.

Not in the last 10 though. The last 10 games there's two or three other teams that are 7-3 like that Brewers. Only one team is better at 8-2. Dodgers.

Brewers pitching combines for a 1 hit shutout against Colorado 5-0.

Milwaukee’s pitching staff has an NL-leading 3.27 ERA over the last 31 games, during which the Brewers are 22-9.

Here's an obscure MLB record.

Pirates Left fielder Tommy Pham became the first player in MLB history to hit a homerun for nine different MLB teams within a 5 season span.

Dude legit has hit a dinger for almost one-third of the MLB teams. Last season he played for the White Sox, Cardinals and Royals and hit at least two dingers for each of them in one season.

"Brewers rookie Jacob Misiorowski added to National League All-Star roster after just five starts.

Misiorowski is also the 30th first-time All-Star on this year's rosters and the 16th replacement. His addition means there are now 80 total All-Stars for 2025.

To be sure, Misiorowski is a compelling presence already. In his very brief career to date, he's regularly topped 100 mph with his fastball, he's outdueled Skenes head-to-head, he's taken a perfect game bid into the seventh inning, and he's struck out 12 against the reigning-champion Dodgers.

They are the clear #1 and #2 options. I think Judge still has an edge with most people because he's competing for the Triple Crown. He's leading the MLB in average, hits, 2nd in homeruns, RBIs and runs, but Cal is playing the tougher position no doubt and playing it well. I think the biggest deciding factor is where they finish in the standings. Both teams are in 2nd place in their respective divisions.

In Cal's last game before the all-star break the Tigers purposely walked him in his last at-bat while they were down 4 runs so he wouldn't break Barry Bond's most homeruns before the all-star break record.

Mixed. There were a few gambles made that haven't paid off so far. At the end of day, paying massive contracts to guys like Freddie and Fried just isn't in his MO. And before now things have paid off.

It's not really his fault though that injuries have been such a factor the last couple of years (allowing very little continuity and rhythm to be established) and that some of the established guys like Ozzie and Michael Harris, and even Riley to a lesser extent, have really fallen off a cliff from a production standpoint.

We've close to having to restart. I'd say if 2026 goes then same then blow it up.

The only guy they should have paid was Freddie. Atlanta fans are weird. They obsess over "their" guy when it comes down to whether or not the Braves should keep them, always leaning towards keeping them. Swanson was trash, and Fried was just inconsistent with his health and in the playoffs. But there's just no way you could have replaced Freddie's production and leadership with a guy like Matt Olson. Murphy was a mistake to me too even though the players we gave up haven't really amounted to anything so far.

For me, the biggest issue has been the lack of making big splashes while telling the fanbase that money isn't an issue. All the while, the teams that are always in contention are out there spending and rightfully so. The Starting Pitching conundrum is one of his biggest blunders to date. There is no reason that at least one of Crochet, Gray, or Cease shouldn't be on this roster right now. How do you go into the season with Holmes and AJSS as 2/5th's of your rotation and expect to get back to being a World Series caliber team. Either Alex is vastly overrated or his hands are tied behind his back from Liberty.

They should be sellers and I hope they sell Albies, Harris, Murphy, and even Ozuna who I really like. Hell, for the right offer, I'll entertain moving on from Acuña. Those knees are shot.
