damn okc is still in it. i feel like pacers are going to let off the gas and okc will win. only because of how fast they started. it will be wild if they have enough gas to continue this pace to the end but i'm starting to think not.

Scott Foster didn’t do the Pacers any favors, but they easily could’ve overcome it if it weren’t for their uncharacteristically cold-handed fourth quarter. That made the difference between possibly the biggest underdog championship of the modern era and OKC predictably winning.

It’s been a fun series so far, but OKC has too much more talent and series momentum now not to cruise to the title the rest of the way I think.

Imo the Heat being down 2-0 & 13 midway through the 4th in '06 would probably be my top choice, they were truly left for dead at that point.

The Mavs returning the favor 5 years later down 1-0 and 15 on the road midway through the 4th would be up there.

And one that will probably be forgotten about in time because they eventually lost, but Klay's Game 6 in OKC definitely deserves a mention.

If we are going way back maybe 1977 Blazers vs Sixers in the Finals. Blazers were down 2-0 and came back to win 4 straight.

Shooting-wise perhaps but Turner had been in Chet's head quite a bit. Even if the numbers weren't there if you take one of the best players on the other team off his game then you've done well, which he had.

Chet stepped up though and with that OKC seemed to get their swag back. We'll see if it lasts but it looks good.

I haven't forgotten that, because in an alternate reality Klay doesn't come through in the 4th quarter, OKC beats Warriors in six, they win the ring and the history of the league gets altered completely. KD wins a ring with OKC and his legacy (and Westbrook's, by the way) is seen 100% differently, he doesn't join Golden State so that dinasty doesn't happen, LBJ needs more seasons to win one for the 'land, etc. So many things could have been different it is frightening.

I am a big LeBron fan, but that 2016 Cavs team was not that good to be honest. They had 36 years old Richard Jefferson starting, for example. They were also old. The only reason they won is a series of circumstances (Draymond's suspension, some injuries, etc.). The OKC of 2016 was a really, really good team and they were very focused, I think if they beat the Warriors they would have won the ring, because they would feel really confident also.

The OKC team had good defense and a fluke shooting series from their role players through 5 games.

They had atrocious spacing, Roberson is genuinely one of the worst offensive SGs in history. They were playing Dion Waiters heavy minutes.

Cavs had LeBron, Kyrie, and Love all healthy with home court advantage.

I take the Cavs, you know, the team that actually did win the title that season.

I just rewatched the last 7 minutes of the game and it's some of the best defense I've ever watched from OKC. The level of intensity and discipline was just crazy. Pretty cool to see a team win a game almost solely off defense in 2025. They made 3 three pointers and 10 assists for the entire game which doesn't sound real

That's how it was in 2020 for the Lakers. Lowest Finals ratings in history. Almost half the viewership of the Pacers/Thunder series so far. The only thing people care about from the 2020 Finals is making sure people know it was an asterisks year and if COVID didn't happen the Lakers would've never won it.

they definitely favored OKC. there was a very obvious foul shai comitted in the 4th and scored on it after fouling+traveling right in front of the ref...

doris burke's comment on that play specifically "that was a travel and possibly offensive foul but man, what a shot" :facepalm

then on the other end, indy players were getting fouled and not getting the calls.

yes, we even had a very blatant foul where one of the OKC players runs into an indy defender, shoots the shot then the refs hold their whistle until they see if the shot when in or not and call it after it missed...commentators "boy, that was a really late whistle"

Yea I saw that too. SGA is allowed to chicken wing guys but if you breathe on him he'll flop and its a foul. Numerous other calls where I was like yup... theyre nudging okc to win this one. Indy should've known that though and played a harder 4th quarter.

Jalen Williams is pretty frustrating how hes allowed to barrell into the lane like bull in China shop and refs give him the call every time for contact he created. And then you've got SGA the finesse flopper. There like fire and ice James Harden. :lol

Hard to beat when your superstars get vastly less calls. Siakam and Haliburton get zero whistles compared to these guys. Only way to win when youre dogged this bad is to get hot from 3 and even that might not be enough.

Every game aside from game 2 has been very entertaining.

Is it just boring because you don't care about the teams? That must be it because we're watching VERY high-level basketball right now.

Yep. And, at least for me, it's a whole lot more fun to watch than the Celtics taking 60 3-point shots or Luka dribbling for 23 seconds per possession.

The Nuggets/OKC series was incredible.

Well... looks like Denver was the closest to beating them. That close Game 4 loss with Westbrook going -20 in +/- killed them. Indy almost had them on ropes in Game 4 too. They had 2nd best record in league since Jan 1, murdered the Cavs (who were historically good for majority of season) and were a SGA explosion away from going up 3-1 against OKC. SGA had the most points in the last 5 minutes of a finals game in like 50 years during game 4... that's what it took to not go down 3-1.

The problem is people still don't understand what makes teams great - especially the modern game that is heavily reliant on 3s and depth. The Pacers may lack a true superstar 1, but Haliburton/Siakim is still an elite duo, plus incredible depth, elite 3 point shooting, and great coaching. They made the ECFs last year so they were already knocking at the door. Outside of their horrible start they have been nothing but elite.

The real problem is people look at 4 seed and assume they suck, because they don't watch games or pay attention to relevant data. Alas why so many people were pretending they stood no chance.

They got blown out once before Game 7.

OKC didnt outplay Denver once after Game 2 until Game 7.

That's the problem - Pacers don't quit like most teams. Hence why I think they've played OKC slightly tougher than Denver. Most teams would've folded against OKC in game 1 and game 5, but the Pacers hung around in both games. That puts more strain on OKC

It took bsurd defensive effort and SGA hitting every shot late in game 4 to avoid going down 3-1 and almost certainly losing the series.

Bottom line is that Pacers deserve way more respect and the odds for this series were beyond ****ing stupid. Denver and Indy had the same record despite the Pacers starting horribly. So - even on paper they were always the better team than Den imo and red hot at the right time.

I don't hate you at all but you're often like that kid in middle school who isn't cool but is loud and tries too hard to be funny. It's not actually upsetting but just cringey and annoying. We all had that kid in our school. He was always nice enough but just like...ugh shut the fvck up.

Tonight's the last big test for the Thunder.

Will the young, relatively inexperienced title favorite be complacent? They have plenty of cause to be at this point, yet the Pacers—who've overachieved time and time again—might very well capitalize if so.

I expect the Thunder to close it out tonight, but—like the entire series—it'll be more competitive than people expected despite Haliburton's injury.

Hard to predict tonight's game. Pacers can get extremely hot from 3 which can nullify anything OKC does. What they did to the Cavs in game 4 in the 1st half was absurd and they're capable of that type of shooting.

I expect OKC to have some killer instinct tonight and the Pacers to fight like hell. Either Pacers win comfortably or OKC wins another slugfest. We shall see.

Whatever happens I consider the Pacers one of the most dangerous teams of all time.

They murdered a 64 win team and were close to going up 3-1 against an all-time great 68 win team with a plethora of insane clutch performances the likes we've never seen.

2025 Pacers will probably go down as the most underrated team in history if they lose, due to their seeding created by a weird start and the optics of not having an "alpha" number 1. Real ones know the real truth though.

Better coach
Better bench
5 people who can actually dribble on the court instead of just 2.
Siakam the best player on the court
TJ the best player off the bench

That's youth for you...may come to bite them in the ass. Haliburton obviously not 100%, this was the game they needed to break Indy's spirit. Having said that though, they've proven to be up to the challenge despite their youth so far but to come out as half assed as they did the first half, pretty inexcusable. They are letting it go to one game for all the chips, if I were the HC, I'd be giving them an earful in the locker. Let's see if they show some fight in the second half, this lead ain't a sure thing in the modern NBA.

I called the Eagles a juggernaut before anybody else. Your commanders take was worse than my Chiefs take... they were not a tough out and they got blown out of the water.

You also picked Bills over Chiefs, and are a notorious Mahomes hater - 3 rings in a 6 year span is anything but fraud... it's GOAT. The Tom Brady vs Mahomes debate is also a massive litmus test... but that's for a different thread lol. Let's just say I'm on the right side of that one as well.
