Well the last few days we have...

- Aaron Rodgers went to the Steelers for one year.

- The Browns are rumored to want to trade for Kirk Cousins from the Falcons because Atlanta wants to move on to Penix Jr. If this is true I find it kind of comical considering their current plethora of quarterbacks.

- Packers didn't want to pay Jaire Alexander and he got released.

He threw some good passes during OTAs and people were like ooohing and ahhhing over it. That's about it. His father was more in the news on Asante Samuel's podcast saying that all the negative reports during the pre-draft were lies. Including Sheduer's meeting with the Giants and Brian Daboll were a lie.

Which makes no sense. If he DIDN'T interview poorly during the pre-draft meetings then why did he fall several rounds from his projection?

It’s he said/she said. Everyone is aligning with sides. What I want to know is where the mesia distraction at. Guess that’ll happen in preseason or regular season. Because teams don’t want that distraction yanno.

Sanders has performed better than Gabriel thus far and has been saying all the right things like he normally does even tho folks said opposite.

Sanders continued his strong spring, throwing a short touchdown in red-zone drills. On the play, he manipulated multiple linebackers by moving his eyes to his left before returning to his right and finding an open window to drive a pass to tight end Brenden Bates in the end zone.

No one really knows what he'll be until his third or fourth year if he's a starter during that time. I do think he has to get out of Cleveland to have a positive career though.

MIAMI -- Law enforcement in Miami-Dade County is seeking to arrest former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown on a charge of attempted murder, according to a warrant reviewed by The Washington Post.

The charge stems from a shooting Brown was allegedly involved in during a celebrity boxing event in Miami last month. The warrant shows a charge of attempted murder with a firearm; it also instructs Brown to post a $10,000 bond and remain on house arrest until trial, according to The Post.

According to the warrant, witnesses told police officers that Brown was the shooter, and two shell casings were found at the scene. Brown was unarmed at the time he was detained, but the man he allegedly punched during the altercation told police that Brown "began to run toward him with a firearm" after the fight had already been broken up and shot at him twice.

STRONGSVILLE, Ohio (WJW) — The Fox 8 I-Team has learned Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders was pulled over early Tuesday morning for allegedly driving over 100 mph.

According to Strongsville police records, an officer stopped Sanders on 71 North around 12:24 a.m. on June 17. A report states Sanders was driving 101 mph, 41 miles over the posted speed limit.

Dumb yes, but it's pretty normal for young men with lots of money to do stupid stuff like this. If you're caught going 30+ over in Ohio that's a 4 point penalty out of 12 until you lose your license.

You don’t need lots of money to speed. Men with all kinds of incomes do it. Generally around that time 12-5am as the roads can be clear of traffic and you push it. In fact I’ve traveled during the day with traffic going 85 in a 65 or 55mph speed zone. And guess who speeds by me? Someone else. To think everyone is riding the actual speed limit throughout the day is someone who sits at home too much. Some roads you know where they will be posted. Some you don’t. Most times you do your 100 and get to wherever you need be without any issue. I’m not going to get on a soap box about Sanders doing 100 when Joe bag of doughnuts is doing it right now and his buddy will be doing it in 1am.

According to a Medina [Ohio] Municipal Court record that was filed June 6, Sanders was pulled over by the Ohio State Patrol earlier this month. In that alleged violation, which took place June 5 in Brunswick Hills, Ohio, the Ohio State Patrol told WJW-TV that Sanders was stopped for driving 91 mph in a 65 mph zone.

According to the record, Sanders failed to appear for an arraignment for that citation on Monday and faces $269 in fines and court costs. He was then stopped by an officer for the Strongsville (Ohio) Police Department at 12:24 a.m. Tuesday morning for driving 41 mph over the posted 60 mph speed limit in a black Dodge TRX truck.

Speeding tickets aren't a big deal, but it just shows Sanders' maturity level. If anything he should be more careful about the things he does being a touted NFL draft prospect. He has an opportunity to make a name for himself in the NFL and a career. These things get analyzed under a microscope for pro sports athletes and eventually a few speeding tickets leads to drinking and driving, then drinking and driving leads to other drugs, then being totally intoxicated and causing a wreck or worse. Poor choices can can take your down a path of stupidity.

And you wouldn’t give your son 10 years minimum if he was in Ruggs shoes. What the f*ck is your point? You have none.

Like I said I have no affiliation with either family. I’m neutral. It’s a tragic accident no question but it wasn’t intentional, he has no prior criminal history, no character issues at all, showed remorse for the awful decision he was involved in. Remained in the scene. He took accountability for his bad decision. 10 years minimum is moronic.

Two speeding tickets. Driving over 100 mph in a 60 zone is one of them, that is pretty reckless behavior and news worthy.

One citation was for driving 101 mph in a 60 mph zone in Strongsville, OH. The other was for driving 91 mph in a 65 mph zone in Brunswick Hills, OH.

It’s news we will forget next week. The only people who will hold on to it are the ones looking or waiting for Sanders to fail. It’s people who have a preconceived perception of him already. Any negative news helps that (for them).

The details are what matters to me when determining a persons sentence in a similar situation where drunk driving and innocent person losing their life is involved. 5 years? So does he have to do 15 before being eligible for parole? Curious how much time he will actually have to serve. Did he see his dad get shot by your uncle? Can’t blame uncle for shooting. Not that I would have but I’m not judging either. Beating up a sister you should expect a brother to react physically if not violently.

ESPN and the NFL are close to a deal that would make programming available in ESPN's direct-to-consumer product this fall, sources tell @AndrewMarchand.

The "Next Era” ESPN app could include the Red Zone Channel, NFL Network and more for $29.99 per month.

https://x.com/TheAthletic/status/1947978441422237888?s=19

From The Athletic:

What could be in the deal is the Red Zone Channel, NFL Network, seven regular-season games that appear on NFL Network, enhanced betting and fantasy league possibilities. There may be more.

Red Zone is the Sunday afternoon show that takes viewers inside all the stadiums when teams are threatening to score.

According to The Athletic, Fields limped to the sideline after running one play of 11-on-11 drills. He was then evaluated by trainers off to the side and carted inside the team facilities.

Hey Yo

"What makes 2025 so important for Sanders is the clear path to opportunity. There's no entrenched starter ahead of him on the depth chart between Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and rookie third-round pick Dillon Gabriel, all of whom will be competing with Sanders for roster spots in camp. A year from now, with two first-round picks in a draft expected to have a much better quarterback class and after what could be a frustrating season for Cleveland, general manager Andrew Berry will be in position to draft a premium passer, which would block everyone else's path to the starting opportunity.

There's no better time than now for Sanders to establish himself in a meaningful role. He isn't even guaranteed to make the 53-man roster, given that teams rarely carry four quarterbacks on a weekly basis, likely pitting him against Pickett (whose $2.6 million salary is fully guaranteed) for a roster spot. If he does make the roster, the best-case scenario would see him get an opportunity to start by midseason and hold on to it for the rest of the season. If he doesn't, he might realistically be looking at a trip to the CFL, where the Toronto Argonauts hold his negotiating rights.

Such a lazy take on Trey Lance as a football prospect. Plenty of 1-AA players that made it to the NFL first of all. So basically you’re telling me you don’t take any athlete seriously from 1-AA. Which is crazy. Then you mention a Covid season? Not many were playing. So how is he knocked for that? My point is you didn’t give much of a breakdown to why you legitimately thought Trey Lance wouldn’t be good in the NFL. It was a very subpar take. Almost like throwing shyt against a wall hoping it stuck.

Measurables and athleticism for an NFL QB?
Accuracy and footwork in the pocket?
Ability to read defenses?
Work ethic?

Maybe I’m being harsh on you like you were Trey. And you have notes from what you actually saw (or didn’t see translating into the NFL) that you care to share. I’ll give that grace.

Despite comments by former coach Eric Mangini suggesting the opposite, Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam denied Tuesday that he forced general manager Andrew Berry to draft quarterback Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round of this past spring's Draft. Haslam's comments came in a response to a reporter's question concerning a narrative that he influenced the Browns' selection of Sanders following his freefall to the fifth round of the Draft.

Mangini popularized the idea that Haslam made the call to draft Sanders. He suggested that such occurred during an appearance on FS1's First Things First just after the Draft in April. In supporting his claim, Mangini cited meddling by Haslam that led to the Browns' ill-fated decision to take another mercurial star college quarterback, Johnny Manziel, in the 2014 Draft.

Speaking to reporters for the first time since the Draft, Haslam referred a question about why the Browns drafted Sanders to Berry, only offering that they thought he was "good value" at the No. 146 pick, before a more detailed response on the idea that he had influenced the pick.

"We have good process, okay? And if you'd have told me Friday night driving home 'Y'all are gonna pick Shedeur,' I would've said that's not happening," Haslam said. "But we had a conversation early that morning, and then we had a conversation later that day, I think we had the right people involved in the conversation. At the end of the day, that's Andrew Berry's call. Andrew made the call to pick Shedeur, just like who's gonna start or what play we're gonna call is (coach Kevin Stefanski's) call. But that's Andrew's call, he made the call."

In spite of his star power as the son of Deion Sanders and projections as perhaps the top quarterback in this year's Draft, Shedeur Sanders plummeted all the way to the fifth round of the Draft after his personality and lack of professionalism in the pre-Draft process reportedly turned off teams. That included insinuations that Sanders had deliberated thrown his interviews with teams he did not want to be drafted by. Sanders' slide finally ended when the Browns -- despite having already drafted another quarterback in Dillon Gabriel-- chose him with the No. 146 overall pick.

Travis Hunter yeah. I’m biased when it comes to him. Maybe you have something on him? Nothing is true about what MetiChode posts. But again when people dislike a player and their mind is made up? Everything reads spot on. So you two have at it. Who’s paying for lunch this time between you guys? Smh

I'm totally neutral on Sanders but if he were the potential franchise QB of my favorite team, I would be alarmed that he was speeding twice in such a short span of time. Ok, he still has some growing up to do as a young man but his decision making skills are shit at this point in time, at the very least...hopefully his old man gave him an earful.

Details are very different but both were drunk and killed someone. He's been there 5 years now, he tried to appeal it last year but got denied. He's my first cousin, spend lots of time with him and his brothers as kids. Kinda drifted apart as we got older, dude was always getting in trouble, he was a hoodlum. Basing his decision making skills on speeding tickets? Cmon man. We have to stop exaggerating silly things like this. Guess who else was speeding? His female friend. Guess what the officer did? Let her go. No judgement on the chick or the officer they enforced the law (selectively). How ridiculous is this? He performs in his first preseason start. Crickets. He gets a speeding ticket? Women's commentary on Golf or Tennis is especially fine with me though. With those they play the same exact sport just without the same power so they can speak to it well. There's also less continuously excited speech so the opportunity to be "shrill" isn't there.

You’re trying very hard to spin a clear lack of knowledge as a mistake, and no one in the thread is buying it.

I’m not trying that hard. My main point is I don’t see this as a big deal like others have made it out to be. If you want to say I’m trying hard in this regard? I would agree. I’m someone that watches certain topics, issues get blown up, selective outrage etc and it makes me shake my head. S.Sanders gets speeding tickets? Everyone is dragging soap boxes to speak on it. Make character judgement, try to justify why he was drafted rd 5, some just enjoy seeing him fail/negative news. His fellow teammate and leader of the browns does it? Crickets. So I’m a try hard in this regard.

Monica issue? No. You don’t believe what you call is my spin? Fine. But you saying she’s a host of espn worldwide sports as a host plays into what my point is. Making it bigger than it should be. ESPN has been a failing sports network for awhile. It didn’t take Monica McNutt to point this out. Why do you have a sports figure talk about a sport that aren’t dominant in? She’s a basketball analyst. Played women’s ball at a high level. Covered it. Does play by play for the Knicks. A lot of her takes are about basketball. Even her comments that most represent her (the negative folks) is in regards to Caitlyn Clark. However you have her talking football? Come on now. Everyone at espn isn’t well versed in every sport. They never have been. Why are we acting like it should be a requirement now? This standard is hilarious when the bread winner at espn (SAS) never played the game. And talks about it freely. Standards? lol

It’s not a big deal just like S.Sanders speeding tickets weren’t. We fans make a big deal out of small, dumb, irrelevant shyt. Just my two cents that reads more like $1

He has become a little cheap over the years, he gave Deon an enormous contract at the time in '95 when people told him it was too much money, his mission at the time was to win. But at the same time he just gave Dak a huge contract, you can't have two players on the roster with QB money. Smart move would have been to get rid of Dak and keep Parsons.

He's entering his Al Davis senile phase.

As it should be! And I definitely respect you going to bat for your guy.

As for what makes a guy elite? I think it's the ability to consistently do things with the ball that others can't do. The Eagles set things up and have the personel to make it easy for Jalen. 9 out of 10 throws are easy hitters on dig or short outs. It's all there for him to succeed and to his credit he takes advantage of it.

The true elites can be elite regardless of their situation. You can't tell me that if you give any of Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, and Burrow 6 months with that squad that they aren't absolutely dominating, both statistically and in the win column.

If you have Lamar Jackson top 4 and act like Jalen had no case thats some backwards ass logic.

Hurts has been awesome in the playoffs while Lamar has struggled multiple times. Both are runners, but Jalen has a better ball through the air. And his style converts so many 4th downs and TDs at 1 yard that he makes Philly feel unstoppable. Absolutely an elite MVP level QB in the NFL.

You need to pass some of what youre smoking to me because I like to catch a buzz sometimes too.

It's not really "logic". I watch both players play and the degree of difficulty with the things that Lamar does is higher. He makes a wider array of throws from a variety of different platforms, has a better arm, and is in general more fluid as a passer. Jalen is a little stiff as a thrower and has a comparatively slow release. That and Lamar is quicker and has even an greater ability to escape pressure than Jalen does to make seemingly impossible plays out of nothing.

Again, most of Jalen's completions are digs, short outs, and curls with the occasional 1-on-1 deep ball. He can't throw the entire route tree nearly to the same level as the other guys, particularly Burrow, Mahomes, and Allen.

He's a very good quarterback and yes he is a great leader and a winner. He's more in the same tier as a guy like Stafford (maybe pre the most recent injury) than the top 4. Which is okay. Stafford is a gamer, Super Bowl winner, and eventual HOFer.

Six feet feels like a generous listing, maybe it's accurate but he doesnt look even that big on the field to me. Maybe has a long neck that gives him some extra numerical height. He definitely is a little taller than Welker, but functional size they feel similar.

Week 1 and we likely already saw the game of the year.

I've seen bigger comebacks than that, but the Ravens were dominating them for 3.5 quarters, crazy the offense totally sputtered down the stretch like that.

I would've strongly considered going for that 4th & 3 if I were the Ravens, I had full confidence the Bills were getting into FG range on that final drive. They also should've let them score on that last completion.

They would've essentially been in long FG range, but they still would've had 3 timeouts if they failed.

I'm not saying it's an obvious call, but imo your superstar QB is more likely to pick up 3 yards to win the game than your reeling defense, on the road, is keeping the opposing MVP and an offense on a roll, with all the momentum, out of FG range just needing a FG to win the game.

While not exactly the same situation, it reminds me of when Belichick went for it on 4th & 2 deep in his territory against the Colts, he tried to win the game instead of giving the ball back to a red hot Peyton.

Isn't he like 0-4 vs Mahomes in the playoffs? :lol

Mahomes has lost some steam over the years, hasn't put up the godly numbers like when he first came into the league because the weapons are not there anymore. I love Burrow too, I feel he is a better pocket passer than Allen, but Allen can beat you with his legs. Allen is a freak of nature though, he has the size, insane arm strength, running ability and what separates him from Lamar is his passing ability. I can't see Lamar throwing for 200 yards in a single quarter to complete a comeback like Allen just did, Lamar needs a running game behind him to really shine.

Edit: Allen had 251 passing yards in the 4th. My goodness. :lol

Lamar is on Josh Allen's level. What the hell are we talking about here?

Lamar is one of the GOAT regular season QBs ever, up there with anyone from his era and while his playoff resume is not up to par YET he's 28 years old and had a great playoff run individually last year. He has time to correct the script. The man just came off an historic season, truly one of the best of all time with his 41 TDs to just 4 INTs, whole being as edfficnet as peak Peyton Manning as a passer and he's the GOAT rushing QB..... I dont need to see it capped off with a Superbowl title to recognize I had never seen that level of expertise as a passer/runner combo EVER.

Josh Allen is a tremendous player. Hes in the same category, not above it. He has done better individually in the playoffs though. If that's how you want to judge a QB you better be consistent with that. Joe Flacco better be way up there on your rankings, he had one of the goat playoff runs ever. Peyton Manning is not even top 20 if that's the hill you want to stand on. Eli is better than him.

Farve is not top 20 either. Way too many horrific games in the playoffs. Almost 30 percent of his playoff games ended with him in the 50s passer rating.

Lamar has had the luxury of having a great running game behind him his entire career. He's not really the type who can put a team on his back like the other elite QBs. It's not like Henry was some bum before he signed with the Ravens, he signed a 16 million deal because he hit 30, the age where most running backs fall off a cliff. Henry just happens to take care of his body in ways other players don't, that is documented. I feel Lamar has made strides as a passer as he has aged, but I still wouldn't call it top tier. To me he is below Mahomes, Burrow, & Allen as an overall player, but I have him at the #4 spot which is no insult. Herbert might have a breakout year putting him ahead of Lamar this season.

Henry's yards per carry the THREE years prior to joining the Ravens

4.3
4.4
4.3

Comes to the Ravens and has a career high BY FAR of 5.9 ypc and very well may break that this year. Henry is turning 32 in a few months, this trajectory leads back to one thing - being in the same backfield as Lamar Jackson.

Nobody gets significantly more efficient by themselves at age 30-32 with all the milage and carries he had prior to age 30.
