Re: 2011 MLS thread
Just readin what they've said on the Weather Network.
This is their last report:
well I hope they are able to finish.
I would be fairly annoyed if they play half a game or more that needs to be replayed in its entirety as Dallas has games on Saturday (MLS) and Tuesday (US Open Cup) when they could be using this time to rest their already overworked players. Plus Dallas has been owning this match so far. Its not like they are lucky to be up.

Re: 2011 MLS thread
I was at the morning game today. As expect, not a lot of people from yesterday were there today but still gathered some with the usual supporters who heckled the hell outta Kevin Hartman. Good time. :D
Still, FCD ended up winning though, 1-0. I would have been a draw if Maro didn't pull a missed fancy volley at the front of the goal instead of touch the ball in. :banghead:

Galaxy/NYRB game postponed to October 4th....
Sweet. I was just about to post that tonight's Champion's League game will be interest depending on how Bruce wants to go about it when it comes to resting Becks/Keane/Donovan and even a Birchall scrub but no worries now.
-------------Saunders------------------
Dunivant --- Berhalter --- OGo --- AJDLG
-------Franklin--------------------------
--------Beckham-----Juninho---------
------------Donovan------------------
----Cristman------------Keane---------
Depending on how Berhalter/Cristman does, have Magee and Birchall ready to sub in at about the 70 minute mark. Give Donovan/Beckham free reign to go wherever as long as Juninho and Franklin can control possession, which they should be able too.
****ing Teal Bunbury :rant
He could have been the solution of Team Canada's lack of offense.
Could've, I'm just curious to see if he can play as a CAM more than anything. If so, put him there with Jozy and Aguedlo ahead of him as strikers in a few years and can be scary.
I'm also wondering when Davies will get a call-up again. Whether he has the form or not, think he deserves it.
-
Re: 2011 MLS thread
Galaxy dominated 2-0, but the next 2 are on the road (final 3 of 4) and Juninho is out of the next match. 4 points on the road should win the group.
Chivas USA passed on Ochoa, which is a surprise to me.
Also Klinsmann has his 24 players ready for the upcoming friendlies vs Costa Rica and @ Belgium.
I was hoping that Buddle would get another shot, especially because I want to see him paired up with either Jozy or Agudelo up front but guess that won't happen. Also am wondering when Omar Gonzales will get another shot at the national level, think he can be our top CB for years to come, maybe give AJDLG a shot too (I'd have taken him over Bornstein with Bradley!)
eh Buddle is too old for the NT unfortunately, especially when when we have a surplus of young forwards coming up(Agudelo, Bunbury, Altidore, Doyle(i think that's his name), even Davies) Blame Bradley for not starting him over Robbie ****ing Findley
Gonzoles should get a look especially over michael orazco(or w/e his name is). I don't like the idea of JK incoportating latin players and a latin style to our game.

Re: 2011 MLS thread
Seriously, the option of a city that has no proven supporters to get an MLS team is very slim considering how successful recently added teams are (Sounders, Timbers, Whitecaps). Those teams have the thing in common, they are all long-established teams with strong supporters. If MLS want to have more teams they will be either the same kind or NY Cosmos.
So the best bet is to move another team to Cleveland, so why not the team in the same state with relatively low attendances now?
Columbus is fine.. The team has it's own SSS which is pretty good. I can also imagine the team is in a sound financial position as their roster is cheap and own stadium. They are also a successful team, I think they just need more marketing and a well known player(Schletto was that guy).
If anything the MLS needs to do something about Chivas USA and San Jose.. Chivas should move to San Diego and completely re-brand while San Jose needs to do something about their stadium.
I also think a city like St.Louis, Orlando or Arizona(idk what city in Arizona) should get a look at a team. I still think the MLS needs a team in the South East region.

Re: 2011 MLS thread
Union had a big comeback to draw Revs 4-4. Freddy Adu netted his first goal since his MLS return. Adu and Mwanga will make some noises in the playoff for sure.
Eh.. Le Toux is the best player on that team, he's pretty damn good. Mwanga is a nice young player but he's a spot starter atm.
Philly has been struggling of late and the Red Bulls will take there spot if they ever wake up. If NY beats Vancouver(as they should) NY will get the 2nd playoff spot in the east imo..

They made red bulls stadium bigger?

Re: 2011 MLS thread
Goddamn Henry stole a win from TFC at the 88th minute today. TFC 1-1 NYRB. :rant
Yea Henry had a real nice flick + goal..
Toronto is improving.. They are getting some quality players especially with Kovermans and Frings. Kovermans looks like he'll be contending for a golden boot next season and Frings is how a DP should perform(Raffa Marquez I'm looking at you). I was also impressed at the young players(Morgan and Stinson)? If Toronto can get another creator in the mid with the final DP they'll be dangerous next season. What's going on with De Guzman? Is he officially a bust?
As for the Red Bulls Backe is inept at managing this team. For a team fighting for it's playoff life I can't understand the idea of playing a defensive game especially with how good the offense has been. The team looked so unmotivated and was so predictable with their attack. It seemed like Henry was the only player with some creativity and he also created some nice chances.. Marquez needs to be benched as he just clearly doesn't give a shit. He gets the ball stolen from him and then he proceeds to jog as the opposition striker is about to score. ****ig asshole
Now it's a must win vs LA.. Hopefully they'll rest the starters considering they have a long schedule not to mention they probably clinched the SS.

Juninho's goal was a beaut, one of the best I have ever seen.
I'm liking the possible draw for the Galaxy and hoping for Metapan just due to wanting to give all 3 MLS squads a chance to get to the Semis.

i hate that i can always spot myself in the stands when i watch highlights of fcd matches
the crowd that did get their butts out there were lively at least.
i really hope that wasn't the last time i see Brek Shea play live as it would be a disappointing end.

Re: 2011 MLS thread
that shea guy looks like he could start for liverpool right now to be honest, looks every bit the player downing is, maybe thats cuz MLS is a pylon league but not sure

Re: 2011 MLS thread
I heard many European teams as big as Liverpool and Manchester City are interested in him. You should just hope him to go to the team that he will start rather than riding a bench of those big teams.
Alot of teams are interested in him and I think you meant to say Man U instead of city, I really heard Fergie is interested in him big time.. Also there will be a good transfer fee involved as Shea just resigned a long term contract with Dallas in the beginning of the season. Also Dallas rejected a bid from Shalke(it was around 2.5 euros) Also he will probably be loaned out initially especially if he joins a major club so he get's a feel for English football. He'll have the same impact Clint Dempsey has had possibly more.
Also Tim Ream is getting interest from Arsenal, word is Arsenal is scouting him throughout the postseason. Rumor also has it that NYRB rejected a $4mil bid from Arsenal earlier in the yr which I don't believe.
As for the NYRB-LA game it should be ****ing good but too bad it's on a sunday.. I'll still be watching and possibly attending? But we won't be having Solli as he's suspended due to cards, sucks cause he's probably the best attacking Full Back in the game, he's scary good in the offense. We will most likely be missing McCarty as well and hopefully Rodgers will be good to go as I want to see a Luke Rodger-Landon Donovan showdown again. But one thing that's a positive is that we always play LA good so it should be a good matchup. I'm ready for Henry to go god mode as he's that type of player.
------Henry---Rodgers
Lindpere--Tainio--Marquez--Richards
Miller--Ream--Keel--Mendes
Rost
This is most likely the lineup if Luke is not ready to go but if he's not able to go I defintelty see Backe using Ballshiity instead of Agudelo(He has a major man crush on Ballouchy..)
I heard Donovan and Keane might miss the game is this true? I think we might have encountered LA at the right time, hopefully they peaked and just tired of winning.
Seattle Sounders: ALMOST the best team in MLS the past three years. They win everything but the big one.
Probably too early to tell but they are trailing RSL 2-0 and only 10 minutes or so left. They will have a tough work in the second game.
edit: Oh well, 3-0 now.
They won the Open cup 3 years in a row.. I'll call that winning something.
They had a bad matchup with RSL.. Even though RSL was struggling they are still a pretty damn good team. Well Seattle is going to sign some big name player this offseason.
