Chucky Aktins Traded to Thunder For Johan Petro

The Nuggets have traded Chucky Atkins to the Thunder for Johan Petro.
It's unclear how the Thunder plans to use Atkins, but the team currently has a crowded point guard rotation with Russell Westbrook and Earl Watson.

UPDATE: Trade is now official. http://www.insidehoops.com/blog/?p=2970

Maybe this is a precursor to the departure of Earl Watson

What the **** is going on.

Chucky Atkins was linked with Orlando for months.

Petro might become a solid hustle player off the bench for the Nuggets.

Tons of little deals today, maybe paving the way for bigger moves in the next few days.

Maybe we'll see a lot of trades in the next week so teams can get in the 30-day no-trade period before they can trade players again.

Now technically Atkins could be traded again before the trade deadline in February, so the Thunder basically just collected an asset (veteran PG with a quasi-expiring contract) that can be flipped again come trade deadline

That's because of a lot of deals include players whose deals get guaranteed later today.

another sonic/thunder first round pick given away for scraps...

they've sucked forever and all they have to show for it is green, durant and westbrook.

Nuggets dealt Samb, and got an equal player without worrying about the luxury tax, all which costs them about a 10 spot drop in the draft. Hopefully the pick is lottery protected though.

Did this really need to be in the main forum? I highly doubt anyone but nuggets fans care about deep bench player trades.

HA!

I used to watch that fool LIVE when he played over here back in the day.

I didn't know he was still "alive"...

Nice move by Presti. He turned a useless player and a second round pick into a decent player and a first round pick, plus he's probably planning on trading Atkins to a contender for yet another draft pick.
