Switching to Point Guard

I feel I will do better as a point guard because I feel better with the ball in my hands. But the thing is I want to balance my scoring and passing without taking away the flow of the game. Also the point guard of my HS team is very good and I have to compete against him for the spot if I want it. He has been starting on varsity since he was a sophomore and now we are both heading into our senior year. He is a good friend of mine but I think I rather play the point even though I don't mind being a SG

Point guard is a great position. I love setting other teammates up, and I don't even really need to score. It's great for those games where you aren't really feeling good offensively.

good luck to you is all I can really say. I'd rather play than sit on the bench tho... if you realistically think you have a shot then go for it, but weigh your options.

I agree with carpevicis. Ive never played pg but i like when im playing with a pg that actually understands the role of pg, instead of just jacking up shots, and driving to the hole. I mean thats ok sometimes but when they do it all the time it is annoying as sh!t

Re: Switching to Point Guard

I play PG since i'm a ball player . but this year my coach tried to put me at the SG spot cause he said i can be a better scorer.
Conclusion : Instead of improving my scoring, i started passing the ball more cause i thought i was tooking to many shoots.

Conclusion 2: He now plays me at PG spot again.
