Tom Thibodeau wins coach of the year
 

ESPN reports:

Tom Thibodeau was presented with the NBA coach of the year award Sunday afternoon.

The first-year head coach led the Bulls to a 62-20 regular season and the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference.

Thibodeau, 53, replaced the fired Vinny Del Negro in June, and with a rebuilt roster, the Bulls breezed to a mark that matched their best record since Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen completed their second championship three-peat at the end of the 1997-98 season.

Nice. Well deserved. I was rooting for Poppovich for the majority of the season, but in a way I'm a glad he didn't win it (he's won 1 already). The Bulls played/are playing outstanding, and their roster isn't really filled with all-stars.

I wish they would give out awards after the playoffs. By the time the playoffs are done Hollins might deserve it more than Thib. Thib did a great job though.

It's a regular season award.

I think their front office :pimp: also deserves some credit for having one of the best FA summers ever that seemed to fly under the radar given all the attention heaped on South Beach at the time.

Yup, those Bulls were killing other teams after that 9-8 start. Miami, coincidentally, also had the same 9-8 start and the 3 games between the Bulls and the Heat gave the Bulls the upper hand.

I'm saying that the post-season should be included in the award. I know it's a regular season award.
