Kyle Singler relies on hustle and bball IQ

His numbers don't jump out. His averages of 8.8 points and 2.7 rebounds per game don't scream impact. His player efficiency rating of 8.31 is pedestrian.

But there is one stat where Singler does impress: plus-minus.

Before the Thanksgiving eve debacle at Orlando, Singler was the only Piston getting regular minutes to be on the plus side of the stat through the first 11 games. After Friday night's victory over Toronto, it's at minus-1. Of players with more than 200 minutes, Jason Maxiell is next at minus-13.

That stands out like a sore thumb, considering the team's woeful start.

I don't see Singler as a long term solution starting. On any decent team he'd be coming off the bench. It's nice that he had a couple good games. My focus for this team in mainly on the development of Knight & Drummond. I thought it was odd CV was in the lineup the other day as well, and he actually had a solid game. People aren't all excited about him....

Although Singler isn't a long term solution, this is great experience for when he (pipe dream) backs up someone like Shabazz next year.
