rumored to be the biggest contract in the history of the NFL :facepalm

this is bad news for everyone's team trying to fit in the salary cap

good luck to Packer fans who want to resign Rodgers and keep anyone else on that team

Good for him. Now let's see the Pats make a real splash in free agency and snatch Anquan Boldin and Ed Reed. If you can't beat 'em, steal their free agents.

I honestly think loyalty might actually play a role for once on that matter.

I honestly think winning takes precedent over loyalty for these athletes. I know its a different sport but look what happened just last summer, Nash to the Lakers? Ray Allen to the Heat?

Once that happened I began to question loyalty. It would not suprise me one bit to see both of these guys become Patriots. Great situation to try and win championships towards the end of their careers.

Yeah this is crazy. The packers need to extend Rodgers, Raji, and Matthews. Not too mention Sam Shields. Now the question is what does Aaron Rodgers deserve?

If Flacco got 20 million per year, then Rodgers should fetch almost 25 annually.

And the cap is $123 mill a year.

Flacco and Rodgers are going to eat up a fifth of their teams salary...leaving nothing left to sign the other 52 players.

These teams will fail because of that...you can't win on QB play alone

You can but you pretty much need efficient salary cap management. WR's adn RB's are usually dispensable with a great passing game. More so with RB's as they are a dime in a dozen and a great passing game can thrive without great WR's. So I don't see both teams locking in huge money into those positions and I won't be surprised if Ray Rice will be dealt in the future(probably a wise move since Pierce is on a much cheaper contract).

Green Bay will be fine but i'm not sure about Baltimore. I like Flacco alot but he's not the type of player who can carry a team like Rodgers or Brady can. But maybe he'll take that next step now with the team building around him instead of the defense or ray rice offensively.

Usually a great QB or passing system will create the WR's. Look at Green Bay, Jennings who was considered to be a elite WR misses practically the whole year and that passing attack doesn't miss a beat with other players come in and fill the gap. Now Jennings is dispensable and not worth the $$ he's looking to get.

It's pretty much the same for all of the Elite QB's. Brady hasn't had great passing targets in his career albeit Randy Moss(he was considered washed up when coming). A guy like Wes Welker has put up #'s as good as anyone in the league and yet no one considers him elite and you have people saying he's a product of that passing system.

cant buy what you are selling here. Jennings is worth that $$ just not to the Pack cuz they got 3 and 4 other guys who can play. He's worth it on the rams.

Retreads like Ocho and Lloyd didnt come close to what Moss did. Welker isnt a product of the system. Hes a really good player. Pats know that. Theyre not looking to move on with random guy making 2mil base salary. Thats some long standing myth Brady hasnt played with talent. Hes not throwing for 4500 yds and 30 tds with those receivers in miami.
