Police afraid for his life....pepper sprays squirrel

It was the right thing to do. You know how crazy those squirrels are. This is a trained and armed grown ass man too. Afraid of a squirrel?

Squirrels carry rabies. I wouldn't mess with it either.

Neither did I, I had to look it up. Still, the situation was bizarrely ridiculous. Reminded me of the killer bunny in "Monthy Python and the holy grail".

A ****ing squirrel? I love how dumbed down our kids have gotten to the point where they need an authority figure to chase away a squirrel. \

:facepalm

good point. i'm a wannabe zoologist, but wouldn't have known what the exact relationship was between rabies and squirrels.

but in general, it's a strange sign when an animal is on foreign turf (i.e. not protecting range or babies) and is deliberately heading towards a potential predator, anyway. might have been trained on human scraps of course, but why take the chance?

rabies is not the only issue, either... any time an animal scratches or bites you, there's a chance for pathogens to be injected. this has turned out to be a regular health hazard even just for cat owners.

If that was justified, I should go buy pepper spray for protection.

I walk past at least 10 squirrels a day.
