Believe it or not, this could be significant. Cavs were full on their roster at 15. They didn't really have a reason to cut Williams or keep him. Either way they have to pay his salary and he wasn't playing anyways, he was like the 12th man.
If the Cavs waived him, it could be in lue of making a signing. Maybe there is truth to the Joe Smith rumor?
Also, Eric Snow will NOT be used as a trade piece. Snow has to miss 41 games in order to be declared medically eligible for retirement. If he were to be traded, that count would be started over. According to the local papers, the Cavs will not do this.
Personally I don't see how it matters one way or another if Snow's contract expires after this season, but I suppose it probably has to do with his medical bills, and the Cavs are probably doing a decent thing here and just not making a big deal out of it.
I didn't know they ever had him. I remember saying he was a better player than Marvin Williams prior to the '05 draft. Nobody told me he had a chance to prove me right this year. Oh well, looks like he failed anyway.
