Default Cavaliers cut Jawad Williams

http://www.insidehoops.com/blog/?p=2971

Williams appeared in three games for Cleveland and scored two points and recorded one steal in four minutes.

Marvin Williams Brother. I remember a couple of years back that UNC Vs Illinois final where he played really well. Best of luck to him

Believe it or not, this could be significant. Cavs were full on their roster at 15. They didn't really have a reason to cut Williams or keep him. Either way they have to pay his salary and he wasn't playing anyways, he was like the 12th man.

If the Cavs waived him, it could be in lue of making a signing. Maybe there is truth to the Joe Smith rumor?

Also, Eric Snow will NOT be used as a trade piece. Snow has to miss 41 games in order to be declared medically eligible for retirement. If he were to be traded, that count would be started over. According to the local papers, the Cavs will not do this.

Personally I don't see how it matters one way or another if Snow's contract expires after this season, but I suppose it probably has to do with his medical bills, and the Cavs are probably doing a decent thing here and just not making a big deal out of it.

I didn't know they ever had him. I remember saying he was a better player than Marvin Williams prior to the '05 draft. Nobody told me he had a chance to prove me right this year. Oh well, looks like he failed anyway.

I think the rumors are true that the Cavaliers are planning to sign Joe Smith after the OKC waive him in their main roster. I just wish Jawad success in his future endeavors.

Big fan of this guy when he was still playing at UNC. He is athletic and thought to be better than Marvin Williams. Hope he finds another team. Good luck to Jawad!
