The Toronto Raptors announced Friday they have acquired four-time NBA All-Star forward Shawn Marion, guard Marcus Banks and cash from the Miami Heat in exchange for forward-center Jermaine O’Neal, forward Jamario Moon and a conditional draft pick.
EARLIER:
Would the move slow down the transition game for Miami?
And does that even matter at this point?
Oneal will miss some games, but MIA may have enough depth to allow him some rest to survive the season intact.
It makes sense. Heat can use his 2 blocks pg and critical defensive rebound in the final secs.
Oneal's FG% pretty much matches up with Marion's.
Marion is an ok fit in Miami but the team needs help upfront. It craves a low post option.
This is undeniable.
But why would Toronto do it?
Marion rebounds at 9 pg but Heat are losing the interior game.
Now, I havent seen ONeal play much this year... is he playing as good as his numbers?
And how are those knees?
Who will guard LeBron if Miami makes this trade?

Is this a rumor or something you came up with? Wheres the link?
Agreed. If ANY sub-forum should be added, it should be a trade idea/trade rumor forum. Not an NFL forum, not that stupid article forum, a trade idea forum.
Toronto needs help on the wings, but I don't know if Marion is the answer. He's definitely an upgrade over Moon/Kapono at SF but the Raps really need someone who can create his own shot.
Marion doesn't do anything for Toronto, and he's gone this summer.
Our SF's are Jamario Moon, Kapono and Joey G.
Getting Marion might as well be like getting Scottie Pip.
He may be gone this summer, but so is his $17,180,000 salary. Ding...ding...ding.
It's fair to say that something big will be happening with the Raptors before the trade deadline. It could be this week or next. Not specifically JO for Marion. But, just reading the blogs of local beat writers, the signs are there. More than likely it would involve those mentioned or our killa wings.
TO would love to have Marion.
A SF who can rebound, defend, and occasionally hit an open threee: magic. Bargs has been killing it at center the past five game he's had a chance to start, so with a defensive SF that can rebound backing him up he could be quite effective.
Jermaine O'Neal for Shawn Marion would be an interesting move, if Miami could send out a bad contract like Mark Blount's deal and Miami gets a smaller expirer in return.
Also, Miami would want to extend O'Neal's deal, so that he gets less per year next season, but O'Neal gets a bigger deal down the line. Like what Miami did with Shaq. Shaq had 31 million due one year, but Miami gave him 69 million more, so he lowered his yearly salary and got a longer deal.
Marion might be a good trade for us, but he'd definitely leave when his contract expires so there's almost no point. Plus, i'm tired of all the rumors.. if what Colangelo said is true and none of our core players are available, then there's nothing of significance that's gonna happen before the trade deadline barring a miracle trade of JO for a star wing player.
