Suns general manage Steve Kerr said there is no edict to trim payroll but laughed and said he "may be told that eventually." He said free-agent pursuits will be limited to signings such as last off-season's, when Matt Barnes and Louis Amundson took minimum deals. He hopes added depth from Alvin Gentry's fostering of Robin Lopez, Goran Dragic and Jared Dudley can help the defense by using players in shorter spans. Kerr said Gentry's coaching status will "be addressed soon. Hopefully we can get that done." The Suns want to build with Steve Nash, who has one contract year left and wants to play until 2013. "He's one of the top point guards in the league still," Kerr said. "One of the greatest of all time. He hasn't really shown signs of slowing down. He's still a great player, and he's still our guy, and he's still the guy who makes things work for us. I want him to end his career here."
