Default Hip-Hop Album Picks...

Only Built 4 Cuban Linx versus Liquid Swords, which do you prefer. They are both classics and overall are better than 90-odd % of rap albums today. But which do you pick?

I only recently listened to OB4CL, probably only all the way through twice, give or take. So that might be why I go with Liquid Swords, in spite of the fact that I prefer Rae to Gza if only by a slight margin. Another reason is a kind of odd one - Only Built just has too many tracks for my taste. I've always been of the opinion that the best albums should be no longer than 13 songs, and LS fits the bill perfectly. Shorter albums are generally more cohesive and easier to digest as one full piece of work, as opposed to a number of smaller ones. Gza maintains a consistent aura throughout, of which I think Rae falls just short.

But again, that comes on minimal trips through Only Built.
